I remember right after this premium came out. I worked for a large tech company where there was free sitting. I overheard one guy listening to rai, and i gave him the premium to copy (and he was off to Hong Kong the next day).

of course, I come in today right after that track finished.

that's the thing. i've never lent somebody music unless i was *sure* they'd return it.
then they don't.
usually they don't mean to steal it, but things suddenly change for them, they leave town or whatever and the thing disappears.

'seems i've usually lent things to people i don't know.

Very interesting. We could evoke the entire Digital vs. Analog discussion ...I'll just note that 16bits was probly random & less than the best they could've landed on.
& we've all been reduced by expanded dynamic range - & then began to long for the Artistry of Mastering Engineers who understood the limits of Analog & used it well !...

I believe I have all those Miles Davis Columbia sets (with the gold spines, pull out book-like sets), they're packaged terrifically. You can gripe about the presentation (historical reissues generally forgo the original album order for order of recording and alternate takes), but overall, they get high marks (The Bitches Brew set is also amazing).

Yes - as I said - I have not resources for the SuperDeluxe boxes for each album. So ...I cannot make especially informed commentary ~ opinion about what Giles Martin has done. But it's makes for a good study in all the things we've broached in this chat ! Should it be done just because we can ?? In this case - I think the Originals as his Dad intended will always be there ...that is: for Reproducible Art - we should maybe be less precious about these things...
