The Stranglers! Yes!!! I saw Hugh doing Rattus Norvegicus in its entirety awhile back. Great show. He had Chris Stein on bass, too, which was a treat. Closest I ever got to seeing The Stranglers, I'm afraid.

Since then, I've seen Hugh Cornwell a few times at Long Branch's Brighton Bar.

I remember the innovative Gary Numan getting crucified by the British musickpress. it was not traditional guitar bass and drums, Almost killed his career, Heard less about Stranglers disrespect - but not surprised. they had a long run. yeah he was in poor health before that, in his 70s. saw their last US gig ever with him in LA and he was amazing as usual, especially on the closer, Walk On By. He's what set them apart in the early days.
