Always comes to mind when I hear Clay's interviews:
www.youtube.com...
Like a fly batters itself against a window
Time and again and again it senselessly blunders
Up and down the length of West Broadway
The bag lady wanders
Fifty cents rent goes pretty far
When you live in a subway car
One stop's the same as another
Even Son of Sam sees her sleeping,
She's not worth the bother
Sorrow, do they ever want to cry
Do they see us pass by
Where do they come from (simple answers)
Do they come falling,
Falling from the sky like rain
Crawling up the basement drain
Misfits and black sheep
Former brothers, friends of mothers
There is no yesterday, there is no tomorrow
There is only now and that hardly matters
No one cares about sad old ladies
With bags full of tatters
One day it gets a bit too cold
Maybe a little too wet, maybe a little too lonely
Lifelessly she lies amidst her bag world
But maybe she's only sleeping

He said he was doing his biz for 30 years and we were talking about a book written by a friend of mine (The Lat Rock & Roll Show by Danny White) that the author signed and gave to Pat Dinizio (Smithereens).
The dealer is a friend of Pat's family which is how he got the book after Pat's death.
I mentioned the book (When Stars Were in Reach) about The Who playing at Union Catholic HS in NJ and oddly enough he said he just found out about that book last week. It's been around quite a long time.
Our friend Dave Goesling is both mentioned & interviewed at length in the book.
He's the brother of the late Andy Goesling, one of the members of Railroad Earth. Andy was very close to & played on CD's by my love with her band The Partners.
I said, small world & it turns out the dealer went to college with another member of Railroad Earth, John Skehan.
The circle still unbroken

I actually learned about that from back in 2009 when Pat Dinizio was a friend on MySpace (remember that?).
He posted photos of his ticket stubs and we "talked" about the shows there. He was a friendly guy.
This was back when he was doing his house concerts, one of the first bigger names to get that going.
UCHS did a series of shows back then with big names.
Very progressive leadership at the school.
copies of the book are out there.
I owe one to Dennis Diken.
