A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Alice Coltrane carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

I think it about in relation especially to matters discussed on Techtonic very frequently. The moving of the window of what's allowed vs. what will land you in a prison camp as an enemy of the state -- and how data collection of any kind only feeds that danger.

Hey Trouble and Troublemakers. In the car with the family on the way to Philly for a coupla days, listening to Trouble. Looking forward to finally getting some reception as we eventually head southwest.

On way out dropped off a check in the mail for the garage that houses all my music equipment. Kind of makes me sick whenever I think that there’s very little choice in stamps. Looking at the big American flag on it screams American Exceptionalism brainwashing to me, and explained that to the kid, who was asking about it. Asking, because, I frequently talk to them about such things. A refrain, that they often repeat back to me when we’re talking about how flags inherently are about superiority and serve to divide people, is “One World, No Flags.”

Suffice to say any historic places we may visit will be explained through the lens of a couple of parents who dissent from and push back on all coordinated state propaganda.

Midsomer Murders always amuses me , because more murders take place there than the total population of the place. Sorry for posting this observation late post-mention by Trouble ... As the star of "Bergerac," set and usually filmed in the Channel Island of Jersey, John Nettles was a charismatic, athletic actor who made the British gossip columns every time he took off his shirt, which seems like every episode. Watching Nettles star as Chief Inspector Tom Barnaby in the brilliant "Midsomer Murders," Barnaby increasingly orders his detective sergeant subordinates to climb through windows and chase suspects down village lanes. Unlike Bergerac, Tom Barnaby is portrayed as staid, certainly stuck in the societal and musical past. The 1970s? In some ways, more in the 1950s. It's a witty contrast with Barnaby's young, hipper sergeants.

Heh…I’ve done that too.

The last time on that stupid big flag one I wrote (when I had more time) underneath it:
No Fascism!

Another gross thing is the amount of flags on these highway overpasses. I mean, what other country is as pathetically nationalistic as this? I’ve traveled a bit and have never seen this kind of omnipresence anywhere else. It’s so deeply ingrained here that few even stop to notice.
