Marston is a treasure.
Doug Schulkind:
Please be advised that during the next sequence of songs, lasting for about 35 minutes, the performance contains narration that will use the N-word. If hearing this word exposes you to trauma, please turn off the radio program. I will comment in this space when the problematic selections have concluded.

"Lincoln at Lincoln, please."
I've never read Genovese's Roll, Jordan, Roll: The World the Slaves Made. Need to do so, but Morgan is well worth the effort.

Also, when we moved to Pittsburgh, we almost bought a house on Gettysburg Street. We didn't go for that house, but if we had, the "We've Moved" postcards would have been amazing:
"Here is Lincoln's new Gettysburg address"!

Paul Robeson in the early 50’s wrote the Average income for a white family in the north is $3,500 dollars a year- compared to the Average yearly income for a Black Family in the south at $400 dollars a year

Until 1930, 4 out of 5 Black people lived in the U.S South-
U know, similar to MLK- some elements in the U.S Government tried to kill Paul Robeson on numerous occasions- unscrewing the front drivers side wheel of his car- to cause Paul’s car to swerve into oncoming traffic at highway speed- each time the wheel fell off before reaching highway speed

So, King died as a radical for peace, love & as a man who told the Truth in public- today
his historical memory has been reborn/reshaped into what we see today…
militarism… poverty… spiritual death
The Drug War has replaced the political uses of Jim Crow- the strange fruits of which we witnessed on May 25th, 2020
Doug Schulkind:
This is the full 13-minute performance, not the 5+ minute excerpt that has been widely reissued.
