With billows and blasts from choirs and orchesters
Buskers and talkers
Big bands and squawkers,
the Stork Club has retained its qualities of decaying elegance and dwindling significance since the late 1950s.

It was recorded in London in September 2022, and in addition to the core duo DAONA, the piece features guest contributions from Michael Serafin-Wells of the NYC band Bipolar Explorer (guitar on Station 2), Mike Rivard (sintir on Station 3) and WFMU’s own DJ Georgy Girl (host of the shows ‘High-Waisted Modernists’ and ‘The Flange & Frigate’ on the Sheena’s Jungle Room stream) as narrator. https://daona.bandcamp.com | 2:35:48 (Pop-up) | |

This CD reissue of Gil Evans' There Comes a Time differs greatly from the original LP of the same name. Not only are there three previously unreleased performances ("Joy Spring," "So Long," and "Buzzard Variation"), but "The Meaning of the Blues" has been expanded from six minutes to 20, and two numbers, "Little Wing" and "Aftermath the Fourth Movement/Children of the Fire," have been dropped (the former was reissued on Evans' Jimi Hendrix tribute album) and the remaining four tracks were re-edited and remixed under Evans' direction.

Gill (sic) Evans
4oz Glen Passaic
tea towel
garnishes
Arrange four shot glasses on a tray. Pour 1oz (1/4 gill) Glen Passaic into each. Garnish one with a #2 tenor saxophone reed, one with a brass key, one with a few pieces of skin, and the last with a small ivory figurine. Wait for garnishes to dissolve, about 1/2 hour. Bend head over tray, drape tea towel over head, and inhale til glasses are empty.

I've been to the Hell that is the stadium in F'boro. Pre-Internet, bought tickets, and got seats in the top row, where the lightning starts. Long walk between beers, I gotta say.

Saw Rother do the Hallogallo 'Music of NEU!' show a few years back. Amazing. Felt Steve Shelley was about as decent a substitute for Klaus as one was likely to get.
