Discotech Underground is actually two...two...two shows in one!

The first half is a "Happy Hour" of sorts (because it's five o'clock somewhere, right?), spinning the kinds of sounds you might have heard at a real, authentic 1960's DISCOTECH as cool cats and swingin' chicks danced the night away in their mod threads and mini skirts to hard-driving sounds under the flashing lights! The only thing missing are the cage dancers...but we're working on it!

The second half is for when you head home after a wild night, and ease in with the heady, trippy, mind-expanding sounds of a groovy free-form UNDERGROUND rock radio station that digs deep into their library and blows your mind all over again!

Kip, wrist seems to be improving some. It's just gonna take a bit before I have full range of motion back, I'm sure. I just gotta keep doing my home exercises, too. Looking forward to record convention! JR HOUTX and I are gonna come see you at your booth! We went to see Roxy Music with a bunch of people last night here in Austin - sooooooooooo gooooooood!!!!!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 5:38pm
Discotech Underground:

Awesome on all counts, Candy! Looking forward to the convention!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:38pm
Woo:

The price of my favorite eggplant parm sandwich went up a whole dollar last week. Meanwhile the price of avocados has gone way down.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:40pm
Woo:

Candy-O, I read a review of the Roxy Chicago show that said Ferry apologized for not being able to do every song that every person might want to hear. Did you like the set list?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:40pm
Stu Rutherford:

Hi Will!
Avatar 🥁 5:41pm
MOM WHIG:

Woo - interesting on the sandwich - avocadoes are still pretty high here - even to Trader Joe's - which is usually the best deal for them!
Avatar 🥁 5:41pm
MOM WHIG:

Hi there Will
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 5:41pm
Candy-O'67:

Me, too, Kip!! Get ready for some heat, my friend! Still high 90's here every day!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 5:42pm
Discotech Underground:

I earned "free avo" with my Jimmy John's points, I guess...and I don't really care for avocados, unfortunately.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 5:42pm
Discotech Underground:

Candy-I'm absolutely OK with that! It's been in the low 60's all week here and I'm not quite ready for that yet.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:43pm
Woo:

MOM WHIG I get my avocados at Costco, which went as high as 11.99 for a 6-pack. Now it's down to 4.99. You have to keep a constant watch with avocados. They're not ripe then suddenly they are and then they spoil quickly
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 5:45pm
Candy-O'67:

Woo, I don't remember him apologizing to Austin about not being able to play every song, but I might have missed that. I thought the selection was mostly great! JR and I thought Love is the Drug was a little mellow, maybe a little slower! It was really great sounding, all the sax and guitar, backup singers, all the keyboards, including his. There were like 10+ people on stage. I'd never seen them before. I'm sure it was as cool as back in the '70's or '80's, but hey, he was still killer for someone in their late '70's! Still had no problem moving on the stage either! JR made the comment that his voice was a little lower now, but he still sounds great! Still a very nice voice!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 5:45pm
Candy-O'67:

*I'm sure it wasn't as cool, I meant
Avatar 🥁 5:46pm
MOM WHIG:

Kip that sounds super good.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:47pm
Woo:

Candy, he may have just apologized in Chicago. Not surprising that his voice was lower. Fortunately he doesn't have to scream or hit many high notes.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 5:48pm
Candy-O'67:

Right, Woo. The crowd loved them, though, in Austin - they got lots and lots of applause and hollering!! You could tell he was getting into the crowd as the night went along. We're loud down here! hahahahaha!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:48pm
doctorjazz:

Gotta run, thanks Kip!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 5:49pm
Discotech Underground:

See ya, doctorjazz!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 5:49pm
Candy-O'67:

Bye, docjazz! See you soon!
Avatar 🥁 5:49pm
MOM WHIG:

bye bye drjazz
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:49pm
Woo:

Candy, it would be great if they released a new song (not even a whole album) since they're back in Roxy shape.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 5:50pm
Discotech Underground:

Alice Cooper played in Grand Rapids last night but I was not in attendance. I've been anxious to see a concert but there's nothing coming to the area that looks interesting. Cooper is playing basically the same set list he has been playing since 2019 so I skipped that one.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 5:50pm
Candy-O'67:

Woo, they also didn't sell out. We were in a higher section and they moved everyone down from an upper section to better lower seats. So, we kind of felt bad they didn't sell out. JR said he's only known of them coming to TX one time before. He's driving up to Dallas to see them tomorrow night, too.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 5:51pm
Candy-O'67:

That would be totally cool, Woo.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 5:51pm
Candy-O'67:

Have you seen Alice before, Kip? I'm thinking you probably have ;)
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 5:52pm
Discotech Underground:

Candy-Oh, yes, I've seen him like 15 times going back to 1987.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 5:53pm
Candy-O'67:

That's awesome, Kip! I never have. I figured you had since you're from Michigan, his home base for a while. Not sure if he's still living there...
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 5:54pm
Candy-O'67:

Killer set, Kip!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:54pm
Woo:

Candy, I don't know if they sold out the United Center in Chicago. I thought that was a large hall for them. The ticket prices were pretty steep so maybe that kept people away. But all ticket prices are steep now. Great you got moved to better seats!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 5:56pm
Candy-O'67:

They played the new Moody Center here, Woo. It's a pretty big place, but not super gigantic. I think tickets were steep here, too. It was $149 and some change for 2 tickets for those first seats we had. So, I'm sure the floor were really pricey
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 5:57pm
Discotech Underground:

The UC in Chicago is HUGE! I would have thought they would have been more at home in a 5000 seat size venue.
Avatar 🥁 5:58pm
MOM WHIG:

Kip that would totally make sense
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:59pm
Woo:

Chicago Theater would have been perfect for Roxy. Some acts do multiple nights there.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 6:00pm
Discotech Underground:

Woo-Or maybe the Aragon.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:00pm
Woo:

Speaking of smoking, the time I saw Tom Waits at the Chicago Theater, it seemed like every person waiting in line outside was smoking. There were huge clouds. That's a Tom Waits crowd.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 6:01pm
Candy-O'67:

I just looked up the Moody. It's bigger than I thought. It said 15,000+ seats!!
Avatar 🥁 6:02pm
MOM WHIG:

Candy - that is pretty big!!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 6:02pm
Candy-O'67:

I would have loved if Roxy would have played the Paramount Theatre in Austin. It's a great venue with great sound! Probably the size of Chicago Theater, I'm assuming

Flying toasters with clocks in them!
Avatar 🥁 6:06pm

YES flying clock toasters to boot!

I was gonna say clocks, too! LOL
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 6:06pm

Biggest concert venue wise I have seen was the Stones at Soldier Field. I was almost all the way to the very top of the rim of the stadium watching a teeny tiny Mick Jagger dance around what seemed like a mile away.

Nice to see the Original Line-up too.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 6:11pm

Yes, Charlie was still on board then. They had huge video screens which helped as well.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 6:12pm
Candy-O'67:

I like that, too, Mom

I also saw the Stones at Dodger Stadium - they were ants, too, when I saw them there. We had so much fun, though, and the pre-trying-to-park party in the car/SUV, too! It took 2 hours to park!! It was crazy, but we made the best of it! Still didn't miss the show. I guess we left early enough. It was probably like 2011 or something like that when I saw them out there
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:12pm
Woo:

Saw the Stones in St. Louis in 1989 so Wyman was still there. Steel Wheels. I was working for a newspaper and got a free ticket!

I saw Paul for the first time at Lollapalooza in Chicago and while his performance was great, there were other aspects of the evening that kinda made the experience a bummer. He came around a couple of years later to a different venue so I went there and had a MUCH better time. I think I'm too old for Lollapalooza. I went in 2012 to see Black Sabbath and while the show was great, other things about it were rather disagreeable.
