I was actually listening to another album from the Periodica label on Bandcamp, thanks to Faye's show earlier today on WFMU. The Capinera album cover was displayed in the catalogue of the label and I thought that is such a lovely album cover. A bird singing with a rainbow behind it in mountains. Thought I'd check it out later. So I'm quite surprised to see that same record being played now. This is a lovely track.

The science on alcohol is very mixed and inconclusive, as I see it. Certainly, heavy drinking (which is much less than people think) has adverse effects on health, great, liver, blood pressure, brain. But the jury is out on mild to moderate drinking; some studies find problems, others actually find health benefits (decrease in heart attacks, for instance). Recent studies found version volume shrinking in drinkers. In general, studies also have a bit of "flavor of the month" to them, and I wouldn't be too convinced unless repeat studies confirm them.

Also really getting into non alcoholic beverages lately - stuff with nutrients & herbs that are both tasty & tonics for the nervous system
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:51pm
Listener John from NJ:

Good luck skipping the alcohol. I'm not an alcoholic either, but my drinking had tapered off to almost zero about 20 yrs ago, and I thought if I stopped 100% I'd never have a DUI or another hangover.

THE BEST PART 0F QUITTING: taking an annoying tone of moral superiority with my brothers who still drink.

I've never tried non-alcoholic beer. Guess I should if it really tastes good. Is there such thing as no-alcohol wine?

Beer good, beer bad, eggs good, eggs bad, butter good butter bad..all things in moderation & everyone is physically different.

For Example: Dad never smoked, had one drink per year (a whiskey sour at Christmas) worked a hard physical job most of his life. Came down with Multiple Atrophy Syndrome at age 71. Was dead at 76 in 2010. A horrible disease BTW.

Mom: smoked since she was in her teens, drank occasionally, can't say I ever saw her "drunk" Died two year after Dad in 2012, also at 76, of heart failure.

Go figure... we aren't going to live forever so enjoy yourself.

Genesis toured hard from 1967 through 1976 and were financially deep in the hole. Gabriel leaving freed them up to pursue a more commercial sound which paid off. I'm a long time Genesis fan, saw them many, many times. I never saw the Collins led version only because I was too busy with personal issues to. Trick of the Tail, Wind & Wuthering are excellent. Some tracks on Duke, ABACAB & other lp's are stellar others not so much. Great musicians hard workers who deserve the success they achieved

@djsheilab: I'm just saying I figured that your show would be the perfect venue for a tribute given the theme of your show for female artist. But for whatever reason you don't, that's quite okay.
