	12:53pm Wild Neil\|\|Peace All: @EFD-WOW, I SAW THAT TOUR!! Palladium in Manhattan 1986 or 87 I think. There was a garbage strike so huge mounds of full garbage bags and rats running about. So, efd, I guess I saw John M play with PIL!
	12:53pm drr: I thought I first heard Magazine on an easy-to-find compilation called One Pound Ninety-Nine (A Music Sampler Of The State Of Things), but I just looked it up, and the version of "The Light Pours Out Of Me" is by Peter Murphy.

I dunno.

It's not often that we fans get such a detailed picture of a musician and the bands he/she was a vital part of. I had the good fortune to catch Magazine as part of the Urgh, A Music War tour( promoting the movie) at LA's Santa Monica Civic Auditorium. Their sound was overwhelming and blew all the other bands that night right off the stage. Some of the bands I saw in that two-night presentation were X, Devo, Pere Ubu, Stiv Bators and the Dead Boys. All excellent, but Magazine definitely won the prize

	2:12pm Dean: Review of PiL in Billboard, July 22, 1989, a show in Richfield, OH, opening for New Order (Sugarcubes having opened for PiL): Both magnetic and repulsive, PiL head John Lydon snared the crowd with more than an hour of snarling, melodic dance-rock highlighted by "Rise," "Happy," and a taunting version of "The Body." Sparked by guitarist John McGeogh, PiL delivered the strongest, least reverent act.

It's about time some of the lesser known transient musicians of the 80's got their time in the literary spotlight. Fascinated to know more about John McGeoh. Quite an accomplished musician for someone who's spent the briefest moments in some of the most prolific acts of our time (and by that, of course, I mean those of us who spent our formative years during the 80's). Got the entire PiL discography on mp3s and some of it on CD's. 	2:36pm efd: worth reiterating (or I guess pre-iterating, since you haven't heard Rory mention it yet) that McGeoch was really the driving musical force in the band, especially at this point. Lydon was writing lyrics and singing, but not really contributing to the music side of the songwriting process.

I had the good fortune to catch Magazine as part of the Urgh, A Music War tour( promoting the movie) at LA's Santa Monica Civic Auditorium. Their sound was overwhelming and blew all the other bands that night right off the stage. Some of the bands I saw in that two-night presentation were X, Devo, Pere Ubu, Stiv Bators and the Dead Boys. All excellent, but Magazine definitely won the prize

Quite an accomplished musician for someone who's spent the briefest moments in some of the most prolific acts of our time (and by that, of course, I mean those of us who spent our formative years during the 80's).
