Analog Nights - the history is it was termed 'marijuana' (a word I always kinda liked) in the first place to racialize & demonize it specifically. So it's no surprise that when our Crapitalist system finally begins to embrace it - lo & behold it's 'cannabis' again.

MrDeb, that's a real hard one. I often have a ton of trouble with the stereo in the front room and almost none with the bathroom boombox. Are you in a building where someone might be operating unshielded electronics near the one radio? Are you operating unshielded electronics near it? I think whenever my upstairs neighbors run their illicit washing machine, my reception shits the bed.

Dirty is up there. Some days it takes the lead. Then there's a whole Bad Moon Rising / Confusion Is Sex / EVOL / Washing Machine mishegos.

Mr. Pumpy:

It's a tough call. Sonic Nurse, belive it or not, is one I have gone back to most over the past decade. Love me some EVOL and Murry Street, though. Ciccone Youth as well!

The one show I ever DJed (on WRMC) was supposed to be all animal songs because I was guesting and that was the show's theme. And it was all animal songs, except I slipped in "Burnin' Up" from Ciccone Youth, with the justification that Mike Watt is an animal.

@Handy Haversack thank you SO MUCH. This is so interesting and I'm sure will prove helpful. Potato?? Potato???? I can't believe I'm learning about this as potato-centric Devo begins their tour. Also: I do believe my downstairs neighbors might be up to some renovations? Or maybe a new baby monitor? To be investigated. Be well, HH! Really appreciate it.

Good luck, MrDeb! Potato! ("Potato I have." -- Leopold Bloom)

If you like Joy Division, My Dad is Dead is JD adjacent, kinda like Interpol is, but darker and more personal. Found it in a cutout bin for a buck on a road trip once in another state far away. Also Brandon Seabrook reminded me of My Dad is Dead for the first minute or so.

Early Grateful Dead when they jam on St. Stephen is one of my favorite eras. REALLY DONT LIKE 80's Dead. Saw them, it was just eh. Snuck into a show at Saratoga Performing Arts Center circa 1987. The parking lot was a city of odd things for sale. Grilled cheese sandwhiches, trippy silk screened tshirts, nitrous oxide hits.

It seems like the conventional wisdom is that Daydream Nation is the best SY album, but I have always preferred Sister. And Washing Machine.

Aside from any Musics & its merits or demerits - I regret never having experienced the Circus of a Deadshow. Or maybe I wouldn't. But I can't know.

MrDeb, if push comes to shove you can file an FCC complaint. Spurious EM radiation that interferes w reception isn't allowed.

Revolution Rabbit- you certainly missed the circus, but the music?I really think they peaked in the 60's, maybe early 70's. I am sure somebody posted old parking lot dead show videos on youtube if you really itch for a glimpse.

'DaydreamNation' & Husker's 'Wherehouse Songs & Stories' were my big SonyWalkman maximum rotation plays. If one can imagine having such a phase now...

MrDeb, my reception has been less good lately also, ditto the reception at the station itself (which is only 4 miles closer to the transmitter than I am in brooklyn. I have heard that an increase in solar activity (e.g. sun spots] is to blame
