Revolution Rabbit Nov63:
So this isn't a Moral issue whatsoever.
Facts don't support that.
Facts like all the many conditions for which abortion is the only way of saving the mother's life. & so many more. You know them.
Obviously this is the Politics of Emotion - especially approaching a crucial Midterm Election. My hope there is they gigantically miscalculated ! & have wildly energized & unified their opposition.
It is propaganda in the Culture Wars.
It is War against the Poor & against Women.
Not unrelate to all of these :
It is desperate War against Democracy itself
- because the Majority is demonstrably & unequivocally & overwhelmingly in favor of Reproductive Rights. It's not close to being close. Don't be deceived about that.

Stop whining, you say? But you're whining right now. I'm puzzled by that paradox.

Dean:
Address my point, which is that the Supreme Court has not infrequently overturned its own precedent. When the outcome is to your advantage, you celebrate it. When not, you whine. This strategy won't work for you nor for those of us, including me, who despise the outcome suggested by the leaked opinion.

So if your argument is about Fariness & Civility
...No.
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:
Stevel:
Noble effort!
Dean:
The outcome of this supposed decision is legitimate in one respect: the Court decided it according to its protocols. It very well might not be logically or doctrinally legitimate. It might be a "bad" decision. But guess what? The arbiters of what is a bad decision are the Court (oops, that's a problem) and the legislature.
I'm only complaining--okay, whining--about how folks bitch that the Court is "political." That goes without saying.
The Court is precisely designed NOT to be democratic. Its purpose is precisely to overturn democratically decided laws and policies. This country is not 100% about "majority rules." The Court's job is to check stupid majoritarian policies and laws.

Dean:
Sorry, Benoni, but you're simply wrong. The "super legislature" argument is not correct. The Supreme Court's job, since Marbury, is to overturn unconstitutional legislation and to overturn bad precedent. And I suspect we all celebrated when the Court did that in, say, Obergefell. Or no? Are you angry that the Court legalized same-sex marriage?
