"We are praising your eloquence on Emptiness," said these voices like G-D' voices. "But I have not spoken of Emptiness," murmured Subhuti. "You have not spoken of it. We have not heard it. 	8:09pm Dean: Zeitlin is pretty much the opposite of mainstream.

	8:11pm Listener Gregory: The Zeitlin I know is all piano trios. Bill Evans used to play one of his compositions. Bill Evans!! I’ll have to see Stork’s show and be schooled.
	8:12pm doctorjazz: @LG-it is a bit of a shock (still, even after hearing Stork's Zeitlin special) to hear how "out" Zietlin can be, those recordings never got a lot of play/exposure (that I heard), so I had the same impresion.

	8:18pm Listener Gregory: I met Eskelin at the Downtown Music Gallery once, and I got to tell him how much I enjoyed his music. It's always great to get to do that in a non-weird situation, unlike a concert, where you're afraid of coming off like a stalker. I mean, I DO stalk my faves, but I don't want to come off like that.

	8:32pm doctorjazz: @LG-Wilco isn't the band it was when Yankee Hotel Foxtrot came out (different members); Tweedy had them all learn the parts exactly (which I understand wasn't easy); that's what they played (they added a string quartet and 3 horn players to the mix)

	8:33pm Listener Gregory: That is probably as the fans would prefer... but not the more interesting route.
	8:34pm doctorjazz: I would also have preferred they adapt it to the great players they have, but it was still pretty amazing to hear live.
	8:36pm Listener Gregory: I love Nels Cline so much that I would always prefer to hear him going crazy, even if the rest of the band is just doing its normal thing. But a tribute to an album is a genre, I guess.
	8:36pm doctorjazz: (I am a big Nels Cline fan...will get to hear him at the Solid Sounds festival, he will have his own sets there)
	8:40pm doctorjazz: I took my older daughter to see Sex Mob at the old City Winery-generally a fairly safe group to see for the non-jazz-obsessed. That night they had Nels and John Modesky sit in. Steve Bernstein just praised Nels to the sky, and basically turned him loose, electronics and all, and the band followed. They played a great, noisy, skronky set (but my daughter was NOT amused or entertained...)

It's always great to get to do that in a non-weird situation, unlike a concert, where you're afraid of coming off like a stalker. I mean, I DO stalk my faves, but I don't want to come off like that.

	8:32pm doctorjazz: @LG-Wilco isn't the band it was when Yankee Hotel Foxtrot came out (different members); Tweedy had them all learn the parts exactly (which I understand wasn't easy); that's what they played (they added a string quartet and 3 horn players to the mix)

	8:40pm doctorjazz: I took my older daughter to see Sex Mob at the old City Winery-generally a fairly safe group to see for the non-jazz-obsessed. That night they had Nels and John Modesky sit in. Steve Bernstein just praised Nels to the sky, and basically turned him loose, electronics and all, and the band followed. They played a great, noisy, skronky set (but my daughter was NOT amused or entertained...)
