I grew up a Canadiens fan on Long Island, largely because of Lafleur. My uncle had Isles season tix so I was at the Coliseum a lot. Once (probably around 1978-79) I made a banner on a bed sheet and spray paint: "GUY LAFLEUR IS 24k SOLID GOAL". The Islanders fans pulled it down and burned it in the parking lot, I was told by an usher.

Whoa! I'm just realizing that Guy Lafleur may have shaped who I am today. When I was 5 years old I attended to local Bozo show. One of the door prizes for being there was a pack of 1978 Topps hockey cards. The Guy Lafleur card really stuck out to me. That started my obsession with sports cards which transitioned to records about 7 years later.
