These came out when I was in High School-I was the music maven in my family, but my younger sister somehow discovered and loved Drake, took me years to catch on (she doesn't remember this, I'm scarred for life... 😉
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:32pm
Funky16Corners:

@Doc - The original releases?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:35pm
Funky16Corners:

I used to imagine that this song was about a vampire....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:37pm
Funky16Corners:

Three hours from sundown
Jeremy flies
Hoping to keep
The sun from his eyes
East from the city
And down to the cave
In search of a master

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:53pm

The tracks on this album that feature bass and drums are playd by Dave Pegg and Dave Mattacks of Fairport Convention. Richard Thompson also contributes electric guitar.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:03pm

Hey Jeff! I sent out a 'thank you!' to you in the preamble!

CupcakeJenny:

Love this one. Larry’s brother used to play this, no?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:03pm
Funky16Corners:

I think so.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:04pm
doctorjazz:

It was the early 70s, Larry, so they must have been the original issues. Not sure where they are now, weren't in my mom's house when she passed away (or I'd have them), my sister doesn't remember all this, as I said, doesn't have them 😔
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:05pm
Funky16Corners:

That's pretty cool. I can't imagine there were too many Drake fans here in the US on the first go round. Way ahead of the curve.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:05pm
Funky16Corners:

The original albums are very hard to come by. The only one I ever had was Pink Moon.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:06pm
Funky16Corners:

Northern Sky featuring John Cale on keyboards.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:07pm
doctorjazz:

I tell you, I have no idea how she found him (she didn't listen to a ton of music), and I've never recovered. Thank goodness she doesn't remember it!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 4:08pm
Brian in UK:

Hello Larry. Guess he would never believe that fifty years later he would be more popular than when these tracks were released. Though I am not sure that popularity was his raison d'etre.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:09pm
Funky16Corners:

Hey Brian! For a guy who was pathologically reluctant to perform in public, I'm guessing fame was way in the background.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:10pm
Funky16Corners:

@Doc - The first Drake record to come out in the US was a 1971 compilation of tracks from his first two albums just called 'Nick Drake'. Pink Moon is the only one of his records to get an initial US release.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 4:11pm
Brian in UK:

Apologies if I have mentioned this before but five leaves left refers to the end of a Rizla packet to let you know to buy some more.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:12pm
Stanley:

Wotcha Brian. You got the Rizlas?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:12pm
Funky16Corners:

I'm glad you brought that up. It was years after I bought the record that I learned that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:12pm
Funky16Corners:

Hi Stanley!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 4:13pm
Brian in UK:

Hey Stanley. Nick Drake did like to skin up.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:13pm
Stanley:

Hi Funky. yeah, you got a little pink slip as a reminder. I think it was pink, it's been a long time I had 'skins'.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:15pm
Funky16Corners:

I don't recall the US Rizla papers having that warning, but considering the context, it's a miracle I remember anything at all.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 4:17pm
Brian in UK:

I think that Chris Blackwell at Island was an English version of Elektra. Kind of.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:18pm
Funky16Corners:

Island was pretty hip, with its roots in Jamaican music, then moving on to prog and folk rock.
  4:21pm
CupcakeJenny:

Nick Drake is perfect for this cold Misty New Jersey day
  4:21pm
CupcakeJenny:

It’s really dreary out today
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:22pm
Funky16Corners:

Yes, indeed.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:26pm
Stanley:

Brian - I see you've got the Howard 350 out.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:26pm
doctorjazz:

I don't remember which album it was, it could have been a bit later in the 70s.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:26pm
doctorjazz:

I have a vague recollection of Five Leaves Left being in the house.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:28pm
Phillippe:

Lovely show, Larry, will have to catch the rest on the archives. Later everyone Peace and love, y'all

And Stryker, seen him a number of times (including a guitar clinic he gave in a guitar shop in my town of Westfield), terrific guitar slinger!
