A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Alice Coltrane carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

No problem at all, Trouble! Glad that I could help -- and that twenty years working in scholarly publishing accomplished something useful!

Hmm…still pretty rigorously adhering to all pandemic guidelines. Which means besides a few months ago going to the Bklyn Folk Fest at St Ann’s church (which is naturally quite spacious and had outdoor grounds) I have been avoiding all venues.
Just about to finish Robert Caro’s “Working - researching, interviewing, writing.” Diligent, and compassionate writer committed to investigating how power works and who is effected. Guess I’m finally gonna have to get to The Power Broker someday.

Said I didn’t care what people thought but I’d probably be wearing a mask while playing (at least that’s how I feel now).
20 bucks to get in, huh? What’s the venue like, in terms of being roomy, air circulation, access to outdoor space, etc? Sorry to pepper you with all that.
Thanks for that background and link, PRB!

I’m still aghast, after a few years of this, of turning a page and having to catch myself to refrain from reading yet another passage about kids being rewarded with cookies, cake, cream or cupcakes. But also friendly cops.
Proof positive that the brainwashing of American children to keep the sugar industry pumping along, while creating a fealty toward “law and order” and the inherent goodness of cops, enrages me.
And the publishing houses work hand in hand with the corporate American junk food suppliers and law enforcement.
Is there anything more depressing than having to see a uniformed cop (of any stripe) the first thing you encounter at the front door of way too many of our schools?
I guess you could say the constant cultural misappropriation of conditioning young children’s palettes for junk food (including the sugary snacks peddled inside and out of the hallways) is equally depressing.
Constantly fighting against and insulting from this mainstream monstrosity requires a vigilance you can’t fully appreciate appreciate if you’re not a parent.
