-> From the Axios story: “ID.me’s terms of service give the company the right to share peoples’ data with police, government and ‘select partners.’”

And then I guess it also has a magical property to slide seamlessly into fake conspiracy theories that right-wing money PACs create so that elections stay stupid.

For GSM phones, at least one doesn't seem to have to get a 5G phone, a phone which can handle VoLTE on Band 12 will do. At least that's what Ting say for their clients, I think they use TMobile towers.

At this risibly primitive level of technology it's inevitable that a lot of people will be unhappy regardless of how we try to divide-up the unhappiness, we're just that inept.
We have to get even better at manipulating the matter and forces that make us and everything we need for survival. Keep us from deteriorating and dying, usually well before only a century, free even more of us from horribly mandatory labour in agriculture and then in offices, and so free us from bosses as some of us have been freed from the worst of political hierarchy and despots, and then maybe we can talk about some chance of feeling good.

Virgin Mobile uses Sprint's network, which is generally thought to be one of the worst. H2O uses AT&T's network. Last I heard, Page Plus uses Verizon's network, probably the best one.

Some are on top and want to stay there, which is understandable. Scarcity put them there, and as such they likely can't believe that it could be over, and even if they could a lot of us couldn't, because it's _dangerous_ to think Scarcity is over when it isn't—I think that was the hippies' main mistake, the morality post- _must_ be very different to the anti–free-rider morality during. (Someone wrote that fear of free riders is all that made mutual aid possible when things were very scarce.)
