A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Alice Coltrane carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

@Dale & TDK60: it may have been a Wurlitzer (she was fond of hers and lots of her 70s recordings featured it) and it was used on the "Turiya Sings" record, recorded a little before the records encompassing "The Ecstatic Music of..." reissue. But I don't know. My cousin the organ fiend would know within seconds of hearing; he's one of those guys.

Greetings Trouble, fellow Troublemakers. Shaking out the cobwebs...went to bed too late last night; was up taking care of Mom paperwork stuff and had dinner way too late because what I was cooking took longer than I thought it would. OTOH I now have a leftover delicious smothered monster porkchop. Cooked down half a head of cabbage, a red onion, an apple, added a spice blend S&P, a splash of ACV and a splash of white grape juice (leftover) and let that cook to sludge and let two pork chops have a nice long simmer in it. Fantastic and my apartment at least smells like a fancy restaurant (and I just smell, period--jumped into yesterday's clothes for work). Sigh.

Remember being a little kid riding with the family in the car listening to Top 40 radio, and then hearing right after her mega hit played that she had died. Was hard to process as a wee lad, hearing that gorgeous tune, so full of life and beauty, and realizing that she was gone.

when a municipality makes the voting hours shorter, so that working people can not make it to the polls, when they offer less polls so people have to stand in long lines (and are prohibited from drinking water!) , when polls are unreachable by mass transit, etc... these are some ways that voting rights are being tampered with.

Passaic River Blues:

@Kiki: gerrymandered electoral maps making state legislature super-majorities permanent; installing partisan election deniers in offices controlling election procedures and vote counting; restricting early voting; closing polling places in Democratic majority precincts/counties; making it a *criminal offense* to distribute water to voters waiting on long lines that are the direct result of strategically closing polling places in targeted areas; etc.

Voter ID laws are a stalking horse for restricting access to voting, not so-called election integrity (GOP is very explicit about this in internal discussions). The actual incidence of voter fraud is infinitesimal (e.g., there were **FOUR DOCUMENTED CASES** of voter fraud in the 2016 election).

@PRB. wouldn’t the voter ID requirement and or a signature on a mail in ballot ensure election integrity? That’s what we really need to work on so there is no fraud and or cheating in elections.

@Kiki Daou: the second measure you mentioned is not in issue. There isn't a state in the country that doesn't require a valid signature on a mail-in ballot--to state otherwise is false. What the GOP is doing on a state level is introduce additional requirements (e.g., providing additional ID for ballot application AND the ballot itself).

As to the former, you're ignoring my point. Voter fraud ISN'T a problem because it's statistically super rare. The GOP keeps pretending it's an issue in order to justify measures that make it harder to vote.

@HH Forgot to mention -- DO keep giving Gamestoria your business! Remember how I said that I sold him my full Magic the Gathering collection and I took a bit of a loss because he really didn't have the full value of stuff I was selling? Last month, I get a pop up from PayPal that there is a $700 payment to me with Chinese characters on the sender name. I thought it was a scam and panicked, but then got an email a few minutes later from the owner saying that he wanted to pay me the remainder of what he felt he owed me. Came totally unexpectedly; I had no idea that he even had money to spend again in this pandemic. Apparently my rares and stuff helped him get his MTG tournaments back up on their feet by offering them as prizes! An honest businessman who remembered me from over the summer!

Hate to say it.
“Inverted Totalitarianism” is the kind of fascism under which America has been imprisoned for the last 40, or maybe even 60-80 years.
But fret not, folks. We’ll still be able to order treats to our hearts’ desire off of Amazon. Of course they’ll mostly be made by child slave labor in SE Asia. But hey what would modern feudalism be without cable tv and access to endless cheap, disposable goods. Which is about all the USA can guarantee you. Don’t look for anything else. We’ll just be happy consumers!
