Put a dab of vanilla extract on the returning cat's head and on the base of their tails. Utilize feline pheromone products throughout your home like Feliway 1-2 days before visiting the vet.

This was a copyediting conference, and some clever person on the conference board asked Hasbro for a bunch of Scrabble and Bananagrams sets for us to play in the lobby and at the bar. They also gave or sold the conference THE best tote bags: basically canvas with the yellow Banangrams bag silk-screened on the side. Very Peel Slowly and See.

Now it's fairly toothless ’80s and anodyne ’90s. It's why Julie's 1981 shows were SO GOOD—there's lots of ’80s music CBS will never play because they've moved the nostalgia focus forward 30 years.

	10:43am YETI BOB: Oh wow, I just found out that proceeds from "Switched-On Ra" are going to an organization (p-nap.org) that connects art instructors to prisoners at Illinois’ Stateville Maximum Security Prison.
	10:44am Threemoons 🌛🌕🌜: Yeah, I have always kind of hated the whole stretch of the year from Thanksgiving to Xmas as an adult. Family pressures, juggling two families (Dad/Stepmom-Mom-Stepdad), crowds, financial pressure, Dad's dying suddenly over a Thanksgiving weekend and going to a funeral home in Michigan with Xmas crap blasting at me from every angle...after Mom's issues and estate resolves, and all the paperwork is done, and all the crap in storage sold, and the lawyers paid, etc, I plan on spending every Thanksgiving et al with friends (small gathering) and just doing what I always loved to do back when I had a real job and was able to take off the whole stretch between Xmas and New Years -- sleep for 12 hours a day and play video games with a glass of my favorite bevs next to me for the other 12.
	10:46am YETI BOB: 3Moons - we had a lovely bonfire in the yard on the Saturday after Thanksgiving - all friends, no family pressure. It was just perfect.
	10:48am Threemoons 🌛🌕🌜: I mean, while my brother in Melbourne is dictating his opinions and stuff from afar (was most recently lectured by him while he was sitting at a winery somewhere near a beach, while I was up at 5 AM waiting for a hospital bed with my Mom in Hackensack), I haven't had a weekend to myself since Mom's diagnosis. And after she's gone, I know I will still be going out to deal with shit for a year or so afterwards. Then...it's total vacation time. I've been putting off a planned trip to Seattle for 4 years now -- first two summers, I was on a German language gig that paid too much for me to justify cutting it short, and then COVID happened, and then job happened, then another job, then more COVID, then Mom.

One of my best friends has a place up in Poughkipsee with a yard and she is getting a firepit; next year I'll be up there in all likelihood for an overnighter. I already told her that if she can put me up (she got a cute little saltbox house 3BR/2BA fixeruppper) then I'll bring top-flight vittles from Astoria for us and her critters (currently her main love of her life--her beagle--and a cat that adopted her).
	10:51am still b/p: Any kibitzing might be unwelcome or redundant, YB, but I'll say last night in comments on Sam's show there was pretty long, though introductory, discussion of particular techniques/resources for how to address(?) pain with perspectives of awareness and meditative regard. No idea how legit or effective for varying individuals, and I haven't had cause to explore such extra steps and resets, but if you have interest in such angles of suggestion, you could have a look.

I drank way way way too much and generally melted down. Last night's festivities were at an Ivy club and I almost melted down--room too crowded, too many people, too many kids running around. I feel wrung out today. Threw on the same clothes that I wore before getting dressed to go out yesterday; have to put away stuff like my "good" purse, shoes, etc--much moving of crap must happen to accomplish this.

The one silver lining is the number of pain in the ass people that I will never have to talk too again after Mom is gone...and being able to turn my phone ringer off at night again.

This was a copyediting conference, and some clever person on the conference board asked Hasbro for a bunch of Scrabble and Bananagrams sets for us to play in the lobby and at the bar. Family pressures, juggling two families (Dad/Stepmom-Mom-Stepdad), crowds, financial pressure, Dad's dying suddenly over a Thanksgiving weekend and going to a funeral home in Michigan with Xmas crap blasting at me from every angle...after Mom's issues and estate resolves, and all the paperwork is done, and all the crap in storage sold, and the lawyers paid, etc, I plan on spending every Thanksgiving et al with friends (small gathering) and just doing what I always loved to do back when I had a real job and was able to take off the whole stretch between Xmas and New Years -- sleep for 12 hours a day and play video games with a glass of my favorite bevs next to me for the other 12.

And after she's gone, I know I will still be going out to deal with shit for a year or so afterwards. Then...it's total vacation time. I've been putting off a planned trip to Seattle for 4 years now -- first two summers, I was on a German language gig that paid too much for me to justify cutting it short, and then COVID happened, and then job happened, then another job, then more COVID, then Mom.

I drank way way way too much and generally melted down. Last night's festivities were at an Ivy club and I almost melted down--room too crowded, too many people, too many kids running around. I feel wrung out today. Threw on the same clothes that I wore before getting dressed to go out yesterday; have to put away stuff like my "good" purse, shoes, etc--much moving of crap must happen to accomplish this.
