Harvesting the last of the veggies from the garden with the progeny, and bedding down the soil before the snow starts too fly up here...maybe not quite tomorrow, but one of these days real soon...

	5:42pm Gina Bacon: Everything is still pretty green here...but it's just not the same. It's too warm...things turn brown and gold.

	5:47pm doctorjazz: Mostly green, little hintsof red, yellow, and orange here in Joisey. Beautiful, Big farm outside of Morristown. Did the gay ride, the whole bit (Let the kids did the actual picking...how many apples does one need...?)
	5:47pm Spinning Giant: I'm in Guelph, Gina... Pretty normal for beginnings of light snow by Halloween then getting heavier in November...
	5:48pm Gina Bacon: I love apple butter, Mom Whig. And apple pie. And apple sauce!

	5:49pm Gina Bacon: There are some great farms in Jersey! I grew up in the northeast corner, and there was Tice's and one more I can't remember the name of. My Uncle Paul lived among the apple orchards of New Paltz. Great memories.

	5:52pm Spinning Giant: We brought some fresh-picked honeycrisps and must us home from the local farmers market today...apple season is a treat! :)
	5:52pm Spinning Giant: I always wondered...he always came across as being down-to-earth...
	5:53pm prguitar: So Bob, Gina and Eargasm! Sounds like a grand time!! Any special finds? Needless to say I miss the WFMU fair immensely! Actually Bob, I think that's the last time we crossed paths in person, which was in 2014 at the latest! A year before the fair moved over to Greenpoint! Hard to believe it's been that long!!
	5:55pm doctorjazz: We went to Wightman Farms in Morristown, quite a few folks came out today. Big, beautiful farm (at least for one in a metropolitan area)
	5:56pm MOM WHIG: My Dad had 3 apple trees, and 2 cherry trees - so many pies were made growing up.....and into when we sold the house 2014
	5:57pm MOM WHIG: He still made cherry pies into his early 80's - "we used to call it Cherry Pit Pie" - as he left a few pits in them. Funny thinking about it now.

	5:59pm MOM WHIG: We all still do 2 pies whenever we get together - and laugh about Dad's pies. (apple and cherry of course).

	6:01pm Gina Bacon: Hahaha Mom Whig! Sometimes they do sneak in. I make cherry pies these days, too. Didn't used to like them, but now I'm hooked on those dark Oregon Cherries.
	6:03pm doctorjazz: For some strange reason, my house growing in Brooklyn had grape vines in the back yard, in a small patch of land next to the garage, and the vines grew up the garage. My dad would harvest the grapes and make wine with it...it was always awful!!! (He would taste it, add sugar, taste again, add more sugar, eventually it had enough sugar to be _drinkable...)
	6:03pm MOM WHIG: Dad's was sour cherries. I'm the only one of 4 daughters that can make pies!! I'm the baker for sure in the family.
	6:04pm MOM WHIG: docjazz-- we had a small grapevine too - no wine though -- but lots of bees and wasps around it.

Actually sorry I never lived in Manhattan (never convenient with what I was doing); my older daughter is moving back there on Monday (came here to shelter from the pandemic last year, going back to the Upper East Side). Maybe I'll get to spend some more time there now that she'll be living there...

	6:40pm prguitar: Thanks for playing some Harrison Whitford Gina! Agree about Rockaway! Plus the commuter ferry is a fabulous ride! It is a perfect way to become transported before actually getting to Rockaway.. Thought of moving to be close to the ocean at one point... I have a friend that lived there for a while, but it's very isolated, and the commute to nearly anywhere is too long to be doing consistently..for work, going to shows etc.. even if you have a car.. Perfect for occasional visits. I'll try and get out there before the weather gets really cold..

	6:45pm Spinning Giant: @prguitar...for surely grateful for what we've got here. In a city, but liveable size, in a semidetached downtown. But the scale is very different from NYC for sure! Its all perspective relative, right? I was on a farm before here so it feels comparatively oppressive/dense some days. But being the hermit i am i just draw the blinds those days. Or drive out of town and walk by one of the rivers...

Harvesting the last of the veggies from the garden with the progeny, and bedding down the soil before the snow starts too fly up here...maybe not quite tomorrow, but one of these days real soon...

Actually Bob, I think that's the last time we crossed paths in person, which was in 2014 at the latest! A year before the fair moved over to Greenpoint! Hard to believe it's been that long!!
	5:55pm doctorjazz: We went to Wightman Farms in Morristown, quite a few folks came out today. Big, beautiful farm (at least for one in a metropolitan area)
	5:56pm MOM WHIG: My Dad had 3 apple trees, and 2 cherry trees - so many pies were made growing up.....and into when we sold the house 2014
	5:57pm MOM WHIG: He still made cherry pies into his early 80's - "we used to call it Cherry Pit Pie" - as he left a few pits in them. Funny thinking about it now.

	6:03pm doctorjazz: For some strange reason, my house growing in Brooklyn had grape vines in the back yard, in a small patch of land next to the garage, and the vines grew up the garage. My dad would harvest the grapes and make wine with it...it was always awful!!! (He would taste it, add sugar, taste again, add more sugar, eventually it had enough sugar to be _drinkable...)
	6:03pm MOM WHIG: Dad's was sour cherries. I'm the only one of 4 daughters that can make pies!! I'm the baker for sure in the family.

	6:40pm prguitar: Thanks for playing some Harrison Whitford Gina! Agree about Rockaway! Plus the commuter ferry is a fabulous ride! It is a perfect way to become transported before actually getting to Rockaway.. Thought of moving to be close to the ocean at one point... I have a friend that lived there for a while, but it's very isolated, and the commute to nearly anywhere is too long to be doing consistently..for work, going to shows etc.. even if you have a car.. Perfect for occasional visits. I'll try and get out there before the weather gets really cold..

Its all perspective relative, right? I was on a farm before here so it feels comparatively oppressive/dense some days. But being the hermit i am i just draw the blinds those days. Or drive out of town and walk by one of the rivers...
