The fenced off closure was the result of clearing out an enormous homeless encampment that resulted out of the pandemic & the advisement / ordinance to leave these camps alone for general health reasons. Controversial stuff but I'm glad to have the park back . DeV0!!

Theres actually a brand new "tiny villiage" of little structures that the city has built ( veRy close to me & THIs apartment) in a former vacant lot which is very very interesting & they've painted them all these various colors . Other people have received temporary housing in hotels and such . Advocates have complained that people have not been entirely cared for...I just don't know... there were arrests of journalists, ppl experiencing homelessness and protesters & the clearing wasn't handled that well

And no, it wasn't an "accident," it was a crash that killed a vulnerable road user. The absolute worst is calling this tragedy a bicycle accident. The auto industry has spent decades making sure that language used to discuss crashes absolves motorists of all responsibility while blaming the victim. A multi-ton vehicle that can go over 100 MPH and takes up an enormous amount of space is in no way equivalent to a bicycle. Yet another person sacrificed at the alter of cars. Don't forget that car crashes kill over like 40,000 people a year in this country, which is nothing to say of all the negative externalities of cars and their infrastructure.

The fenced off closure was the result of clearing out an enormous homeless encampment that resulted out of the pandemic & the advisement / ordinance to leave these camps alone for general health reasons. Theres actually a brand new "tiny villiage" of little structures that the city has built ( veRy close to me & THIs apartment) in a former vacant lot which is very very interesting & they've painted them all these various colors . Other people have received temporary housing in hotels and such . Advocates have complained that people have not been entirely cared for...I just don't know... there were arrests of journalists, ppl experiencing homelessness and protesters & the clearing wasn't handled that well

And no, it wasn't an "accident," it was a crash that killed a vulnerable road user. The absolute worst is calling this tragedy a bicycle accident. The auto industry has spent decades making sure that language used to discuss crashes absolves motorists of all responsibility while blaming the victim. A multi-ton vehicle that can go over 100 MPH and takes up an enormous amount of space is in no way equivalent to a bicycle. Yet another person sacrificed at the alter of cars. Don't forget that car crashes kill over like 40,000 people a year in this country, which is nothing to say of all the negative externalities of cars and their infrastructure.

	8:57am Night Owl: Damon Fowler is best known as a guitar player with a couple of bands whose southern rock pedigrees have helped keep that genre alive. He was a member of Butch Trucks’ Freight Train Band, which was led by the late Allman Brothers Band drummer Butch Trucks until his untimely 2017 death. And Fowler has been the touring guitarist, often playing slide, with the Dickey Betts Band, alongside Betts’ son Duane of the Allman Betts Band. Fowler also is a member of the contemporary blues band Southern Hospitality with blues/roots piano monster Victor Wainwright. Fowler’s new solo album, Alafia Moon, drops on March 26, and is a bluesy affair that consists almost entirely of songs he wrote or co-wrote, with the exception of a cover of Guy Clark’s “The Guitar.” And in yet another nod to the band that has played such a role in Fowler’s musical evolution, the cover for Alafia Moon was created by legendary artist Flournoy Holmes, whose iconic album covers include the Allman Brothers classic Eat a Peach.
