	3:29pm David (in London): Julie, don't know if Gloria Mundi are on your gothdar, but they are sometimes credited with being the first ever goth band in the UK. Bauhaus were a post-punk band till they played with GM at the Marquee and then revised their approach considerably. Their stuff still sounds amazing, too.

	🦇 5:48pm Handy Haversack: Yeah, Julie, private rooms. What we usually do (did ... ?) is do the "marathon" on a weekend day. It's $15 per person to book the room for up to seven hours! So we invite everyone and go from like 1 PM to 8 PM! Usually the first hour is just me and Kate singing sad songs about alcohol to each other. "Tom Traubert's Blues." "Joey." That kind of thing. David, I once made the mistake of thinking Pulp's "Common People" would find a working-class sense of fellow feeling when we were at an extremely rural roadhouse karaoke session on the Fourth of July in western Michigan. I was greeted with a "Welcome to America" when I finished. So I thinks to myself, well, everyone loves classic rock. Rush did not land with that crowd either. Night, David!

They did not like it the first time very much to say the least. By the third time the song started playing, both the drinkers and bar staff wanted the jukebox's power to be disconnected.

	🦇 6:05pm B R M: HIS NAME IS ALIVE- so, I grew up in Michigan in the 1980's (c/o 89) an was in college at the University of Michigan in 1990 and let me tell you, it felt LITERALLY IMPOSSIBLE that this band was from Livonia, MI (a suburb of Detroit...) the idea that this was being made just down the road was MINDBLOWING. Heroes!

My home village was one of those places where time literally stood still with very little influence from the outside world.

Bauhaus were a post-punk band till they played with GM at the Marquee and then revised their approach considerably. Their stuff still sounds amazing, too.

So we invite everyone and go from like 1 PM to 8 PM! Usually the first hour is just me and Kate singing sad songs about alcohol to each other. "Tom Traubert's Blues." "Joey." That kind of thing. David, I once made the mistake of thinking Pulp's "Common People" would find a working-class sense of fellow feeling when we were at an extremely rural roadhouse karaoke session on the Fourth of July in western Michigan. I was greeted with a "Welcome to America" when I finished. So I thinks to myself, well, everyone loves classic rock. Rush did not land with that crowd either. Night, David!

My home village was one of those places where time literally stood still with very little influence from the outside world.
