Good morning and happy ablutions to you, @Listener Gregory. Carter is on clarinet, I believe. The sax player is a new name to me: Thom David Mason. Cream of the LA crop here.

Album is called Amsterdam Sunshine, but in the cover photo, two-thirds of it is in deep shadow. Eh?

FWIW: John Carter was still playing soprano into the mid-1980s (when the Miranda was recorded)
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 9:44am

(The liner notes don't list ANYONE on soprano so it's at least as likely to be Carter as Mason)

The earliest New Colony Six material, before the Mercury hits, had the lead guitar thru a Leslie on almost everything (ie: the entire “Breakthrough” album). From ‘66. That’s some of the earliest rock n roll guitar-through-a-Leslie that I’ve ever heard, I think.

Hi, Jeff, Bob, et al. George's lead on "It's Only Love" from 1965 is one of the earliest Leslie-treated guitar I can recollect. And it's definitely a lighter touch than what McGuinn later employed. But the earliest non-organ use I know of is Paul Petersen’s groovy "She Rides With Me"! Between him and Shelley Fabares, The Donna Reed Show's kid cast were the real rock innovators!
