No one was ever going to mistake Nick Fiend for the world’s greatest singer but ASF made some amazing music. I remember seeing them when EST came out, and they were absolutely awesome, doing stuff that more ‘serious’ later industrial artists (your Ministrys and so on) would get the credit for.

When I was helping Scott Williams and Terry T stuff envelopes in 1997 they let me take a free CD from the bin and I pulled out one that read "JANDEK" but since that day the references have just kept on piling up...

We played on the same bill as Jandek at the Incubus Festival in 2009. The next day he joined us briefly for coffee in the town square when guitarist Jon spotted him strolling around and had the nerve to invite him over. He was, um, strange to say the least. Really not giving much away. Very pleasant though, and his set was amazing. Jon ended up naming his newborn son Sterling in his honour.

The second time I saw him play, I later saw him dancing in the back of the venue (not backstage, in the crowd) during another band's set. That's not all that common, so he may be weird, but not in a bad way
