Definitely not just a Thai phenomenon. Nagas are in a couple of Hindu holy texts. I think the Mahabharata and Ramayana, at least. And then in various Buddhist traditions. And the of course in pop culture here. They were a monster in D&D by 1981 at least.

I am 100 percent not buying this as far as Gor is concerned. It's a system of abuse and always only has been. It preys on women who are vulnerable and hurt, like most forms of ritualized abuse. This is not a kink. It's a system of abuse that manipulates and manufactures consent.

I thought you were referring to the fictional Gor from the twisted psyche of John Lange. There are many similar scenarios that are often acted out by participants in the BDSM community. That of course is with consent to be objectified.

Are you saying there are sub-cultures where these atrocities are committed without consent? Then that would be quite horrible and abusive

@Krys: hiya Bach at cha. Re my copy of commercial zone could be a test press - but I believe it’s simply that particular version of a boot👢Yet later, I thought I had seen an ALL-Black version with more official graphics.
Note: I recall I have a version of song ‘Blue Water’ via an official 12” single release B-side?

I am explicitly saying that Gor and Goreanism are indeed all about LACK of consent. They are systems of abuse and have nothing to do with BDSM culture or community, in which consent is key.

I have an issue with consent. It's passive.
I know that frame is needed now, but I still find it problematic as it is framed now (I see it as useful in a wider sense)
I think there's a gendered side to "consent" that should be addressed. A very low priority, but a flaw nonetheless

Definitely an issue in countries where archaic gender roles are still heavily enforced. It makes the very nature of consent meaningless due to the intense pressure and fear of consequence if one were to refuse an advance. Especially if it were coming from a person of power

We're going to see an actual movie in an actual movie theater today, which I don't think we've done together since ... well, I can't even recall. Couldn't find a concert that seemed worth going out for so decided to call an audible see a movie. And try a new pizza place.
