A combination of collage, new experimental records and other bits and bobs, Mid-Valley Mutations is a tour through the mind of Austin Rich, who has been broadcasting in some form since 1998. Heavily influenced by Dr Demento, Don Joyce and old fashioned College Radio, Austin creates Audio Essays on a variety of subjects, and even just plays records, from time to time. Sometimes Live music and Interviews will grace the program, helping create a situation where you don't really know what you're going to hear, when you tune in. What you need to know is when you enter the Mid-Valley region, be prepared for the Musical Mutations... in whatever form they take.

Narcissistic Personality Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder and the Cluster B disorders are tough because they don't respond well to talk therapy and such. My oldest sister has a couple of Cluster B personality disorders and so did my ex. I learned a lot from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy over the years that helps me. I also find comfort from another YouTube account Surviving Narcissism: www.youtube.com...

It's impossible for psych hospitals to hold a patient against their will for an extended period of time unless they harm themselves or others which is seen as criminal behavior. That is why these people end up incarcerated. It also has to do with the paranoid beliefs that many patients have about medication. It's tough.

The Mental Health Systems Act of 1980 (MHSA) was United States legislation signed by President Jimmy Carter which provided grants to community mental health centers. In 1981 President Ronald Reagan, who had made major efforts during his Governorship to reduce funding and enlistment for California mental institutions, pushed a political effort through the Democratically controlled House of Representatives and a Republican controlled Senate to repeal most of MHSA.[1] The MHSA was considered landmark legislation in mental health care policy.

Krys O.:

Many women and girls on the spectrum are never diagnosed because the prevailing focus has been on the behavior of men and boys with neurodiversity. AND because women and girls become adept at "masking."

The term “autism masking” is used to describe behaviors used by people with ASD to suppress or hide the signature characteristics of the disorder. It can also mean mirroring the behavior of neurotypical people and developing “scripts” that work in social situations

Re what Krys O was saying about autism in women and girls, goodness yes. I'm of a generation and family culture where, if you were capable of sitting down, shutting up, and acting like everything is fine, then everything is fine. A number of women friends of mine experienced the same and we're all hilarious now! But it likely would have gone better for us if we hadn't learned to pretend so well.

I think I have audio from all the bands at that show. Some video, but not everything.

Again... if I don't get to some of this video soon, it might be years! There's so much to do!

i'm curious...is "MKUltramegaphone" in any related to "mk ultra"/Jason Foster/donovan's dreamers?

Wasn’t the KMUZ MKUltramegaphone/Uneasy Chair episode titled: TheManInTheMoon……from back in 2017ish???

How funny! There isn't a connection (that I know of...). The name was one horridus was really into, and I liked. I'm not sure where he got it, except that it was a reference to Project MKUltra.

Don Haugen found a new toy store, that started putting on experimental shows in Eugene. The one that was scheduled got canceled for ice, but I think there's one in Feb. happening.

i figured not but thought i should ask. i had a tough time finding what little, questionable information i have on this cd i've got. i don't remember where i got it from but fairly likely i bought it from the artist -somewhere in the new paltz area... but i don't remember at all!

How funny. I feel like I recall finding a few other acts that had something with "MKUltra" in the name, but we thought ours was so ridiculous that it would be unique.

I tried to arrange to interview dAs once, and instead, he just made me do more radio with him. So I would know more about their history if he wasn't so tricky!

I recall, when this album came out, a lot of hipsters HATED it. It was very different from their previous records, and it had taken a long time to record. I think people weren't ready for it. Flash-forward to now, and kids RAVE that this album was ahead of its time...

History is often a better judge.
