	3:27pm Funky16Corners: The vocalist Mark Murphy does a fantastic version of this song
	3:27pm Funky16Corners: Pretty hot band, too, and with the exception of Lenny White, could be any Blue Note session in the 60s
	3:32pm Funky16Corners: It's important to note, as well that even though many of these musicians are working with electric instruments, very little of this qualifies as jazz rock or fusion. It's really sui generis.

	3:34pm Funky16Corners: I know that a lot of it made it onto UK dancefloors
	3:35pm Listening Out There: "Fusion" wasn't always a bad word. Just most of the time...
	3:36pm Funky16Corners: I don't have anything against it, but it suggests rockers trying to play jazz or jazzers rocking out, and almost none of the CTI stuff I know falls into those categories

	3:40pm Matt from New Orleans: The CTI stuff that made it into the Jazz Dance scene repertoire was really fast paced stuff like this. Just like the Northern dancers, they liked it fast so they could really show off their moves.

	3:50pm Funky16Corners: This is a great album. Laws covers Pink Floyd, the Monkees, the Bee Gees and the Beatles
	3:57pm Matt from New Orleans: I don’t think George Davis ever was a sideman on CTI but he recorded on a bunch of similar sort of soul jazz/jazz fusion albums in the early 70s.
	3:58pm Funky16Corners: I have a funk 45 by a New Orleans trumpeter named Hack Bartholomew on CTI. One-off, never did anything else for them
	4:01pm Gerry from Miami: @Funky16Corners I second your sentiments about Mark Murphy's vocal version of "Red Clay." Fantastic! Elling is the only other jazz singer I can think of who could keep up with him. SMOOTH JAZZ and WAVE formats on radio stations across the country were playing records that squeezed everything out of "real" jazz that makes it so great, in my opinion. CTI's run was a good one, for the most part. After all, these gifted musicians were just trying to earn a decent living. Ask Herbie Hancock! He's done it all!

	4:36pm Gerry from Miami: A friend of mine in LA who happened to be my mailman for several years loved his jazz guitar! Gabor, Wes, Joe Pass, Jim Hall. I had to introduce him to McLaughlin, Coryell, DiMeola, Metheny and some of the more contemporary guys back in the 70s. He ended up loving their music as well as his old standbys.

	4:45pm Gerry from Miami: I think Keith Jarrett has some Hungarian heritage. So sad about Keith's inability to use his left hand anymore. He doubts he will ever perform again. Joni Mitchell also has severe problems with her hands and fingers, so her guitar and piano playing days may be over as well.
	4:45pm Dean: Back in 2000 I hired Alan Broadbent's trio to play the public library where I worked. The trio performed mid-afternoon. Later that evening, Broadbent accompanied Mark Murphy at Jazz Bakery. I made it to both shows.

Elling is the only other jazz singer I can think of who could keep up with him. SMOOTH JAZZ and WAVE formats on radio stations across the country were playing records that squeezed everything out of "real" jazz that makes it so great, in my opinion. CTI's run was a good one, for the most part. After all, these gifted musicians were just trying to earn a decent living. Ask Herbie Hancock! He's done it all!

I had to introduce him to McLaughlin, Coryell, DiMeola, Metheny and some of the more contemporary guys back in the 70s. He ended up loving their music as well as his old standbys.

Joni Mitchell also has severe problems with her hands and fingers, so her guitar and piano playing days may be over as well.
	4:45pm Dean: Back in 2000 I hired Alan Broadbent's trio to play the public library where I worked. The trio performed mid-afternoon. Later that evening, Broadbent accompanied Mark Murphy at Jazz Bakery. I made it to both shows.
