Hey Malcolm. Morning to you good sir.

Scientist, nice. Reminds me of my brother, who was involved in the reggae scene here in the late 70s and early 80s.

Ah! Lucky guy. Some of the best music of all time (IMO!)

I remember him sneaking me to see the Sir Coxone Sound System when I was about 12. There was an entire room of bass, and it blew my mind.

Favorite The Fall albums? Mine is probably Live At The Witch Trials or Shift Work. I wonder if Mark E. Smith ever listened to Spirit (Randy California). Favorite Spirit album? Mine is self titled Spirit.

Nature's Way of Telling You. Girl In Your Eyes. Fresh Garbage. Good stuff, that one.

I Am Kurious Oranj for me. Shame MES isn't around to pontificate on the state of affairs. Could use some level-headed analysis!

He'd tell me to find the eraser on my keyboard, most likely. Nah. Did he ever mention in interviews or anywhere what he thought of being associated with Buffalo Bill's basement lair? Hip Priest blares when Clarice confronts him at the ending.

Good morning, everyone! Always nice to start the morning with a bit of the Radiophonic Workshop

Infotainment Scan was about as dance-able as The Fall got I thought. That's if it were humanly possible to dance to The Fall.

Remember watching that and feeling disturbed to have something in common with Buffalo Bill. Also Goodbye Horses honestly slaps
Avatar 4:13am
Malcolm:

is that the one with 'lost in music' on?
Avatar 4:16am

Correct, Malcolm. Glam Racket as well.... I can dig Glam, especially Suede and T Rex.

Mark was a weird creature. I haven't read Brix's book.

good album. why are people grudgeful, popcorn something or other.

Would read Steve Hanley's first! Tho I liked Brix's too

I bet he was difficult to be around to say the least. But this isn't the place to badmouth him. We seem to all be products of our immediate environment. Today's environment is a Marshall McLuhan nightmare.
Avatar 4:25am
dan in wisconsin:

Actually, I'd like to think that McLuhan would just say we need to pick and choose our mediums very wisely. Or as Devo said, to choose our mutations wisely. Or as that one quote goes, better to remain silent than to open my mouth and remove all doubt of whether or not I am a fool. I can relate to the last quote.
Avatar 4:28am
dan in wisconsin:

Why Are People Grudgeful was a Lee Scratch Perry song. Yeah, didn't MES and Lee collaborate on greater level once, or am I just wrong on that one?
Avatar 4:28am
Malcolm:

has anyone listened to datblygu? They remind me a lot of the fall, but with welsh language lyrics.
Avatar 4:28am
Malcolm:

@dan that's a collaboration i'd like to hear!
Avatar 4:32am
dan in wisconsin:

Any fans of Kino here? Viktor Tsoi and MES. Would they have gotten along?
Avatar 4:37am
dan in wisconsin:

Different environments, London and Moscow back in the 1980s. Apples and oranges, I guess.
Avatar 4:43am
dan in wisconsin:

Okay, I'll stop hogging the platform, but are there any Slapp Happy fans present? If so, what do you think of the song Charlie and Charlie?
Avatar 4:46am
dan in wisconsin:

Secret about Slapp Happy's Mr Rainbow melody? Where did it originate, anyways? It can be heard again chronologically, within David Bowie's Japanese vodka commercial and then later on in NIN's A Warm Place melody. But where the heck did Slapp Happy get that melody from?
Avatar 4:59am
dan in wisconsin:

Also Cherry Flavored Pez, no question about it. But. What is Goofy anyways?

Morning Emily and everyone. @Malcom, I saw Datblygu at a festival a few years ago, and they were the highlight of the 3 days!

Malcolm, a friend of mine introduced me to Datblygu a few years back. Amazing aren't they? He always does a dual review of their releases, in English and in Welsh.

Avatar 5:28am
Malcolm:

Thanks for sharing David. I really enjoyed that review, especially the line 'By a lot of estimations they’re something like the originators of singing in Welsh and not being crap.'
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:30am
David (in London):

Malcolm, I always enjoy his reviews. He does one every year about Eurovision, which is a song by song run down of the entries. Some of them have gone down in legend.
Avatar 5:31am
ben abs:

@Malcom, Wyau is a great album for sure, pyst is also v.good if you have a chance to check it out. Hi @Dan. Hello @David! Indeed, it's been a while. Not bad round here thanks, the fire is now burning rugularly in the evenings, and the fallen leaves make for slippery footings. Hoe's things in the smoke?

@Malcom, I was going to pull up the same line from the review, great stuff!
Avatar 5:32am
Malcolm:

I will most definately check that out. I wonder what the next eurovision will be like? Masked europoppers performing to empty rooms?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:39am
David (in London):

Ben, so, you're still up Stroud way then? Is that permanent now, or still just 'riding the Covid'? Things fine here in the Smoke really. Or at least as fine as they can be,

@David, yep, Stroud looking pretty permanent now. I had to give up my place in London when I got made redundant, haven't found anything new yet... challenging times, but atleast the government think I should retrain as an actor.

Thanks Emily!
