public transit makes the MTA busses in NYC look efficient. For those w/o a car, their options are severely limited. Yes, a food desert exists in lower income neighborhoods (I'm in a hotel in a tourist area, but working class neighborhoods surround the parks. The small markets charge thrice as much for anything decent then the supermarkets).
