Every show starts with the ’70s! We’ll rediscover forgotten rockers, revisit unfairly maligned disco beats and replay power-pop favorites. Next: plenty of new releases, occasional live bands and more. Don’t let the nickname confuse you.

thanks so much for the Helen Reddy tribute, EFD -- when i was a kid, i thought her songs could be incredibly corny, but damn, her voice! so gorgeous!
and correct me if i am wrong, but didn't Helen Reddy and Mac Davis both have "Summer replacement" variety shows?
i still crack up when i recall Mac Davis starting to sing, "Baby baby don't get hooked on me" . . . and *amending* his lyrics to, "Baby, don't get hoof and mouth disease" :)

I guess other kids in the 1970s went out to play on summer nights. Their loss.
Ken From Hyde Park:
slugluv1313:
and i was really really hoping that my brain was messing with me, but apparently not: "After appearing as guests on the Sonny & Cher show in early 1974, a producer for CBS was impressed by the brothers' stage presence and offered them their own variety hour on the network for the summer slot.[6] The Hudson Brothers Show[7] aired Wednesday nights on CBS from July 31, 1974 to August 28, 1974.[8] The show was so successful that CBS devised The Hudson Brothers Razzle Dazzle Show, which aired on Saturday mornings, from September 7, 1974 to August 30, 1975, in a half-hour format.[8] The group's television exposure accrued the group a heightened level of fame, and resulted in the brothers becoming teen idols."

Never got the chance to see them. Once or twice, punks I knew drove to Chicago from Madison to see them (or not, depending on numerous variables) . I heard it was a scene not for the weak.

but this was later, in a larger venue (like Irving Plaza, but i do not think it was there) -- i was already out of college, and working in Manhattan -- one of the students where i worked was from SF, turned out she was friends with them and had also been at the show
