“Only a firm mind” - that’s what she said, har har! My flaccid mind is as ready as it will ever be, hit me Kitten
Avatar 3:05pm
Mr Fab:

Yes, Bappi Lahiri!! Indeed, Fuzzyland’s late great Jac Zinder hepped me to this classic. And to Bappi in general - I would go to Indian shops looking for his tapes.
Avatar 3:07pm
Mr Fab:

If that hit n run bastard hadn't taken DJ Jac from us, he would have been a natural for Sheena’s.

Hello from Montreal, Kitten Sparkles
Avatar 3:18pm

I was trying to find smoking jackets couple years ago, and apparently now they don’t call them that anymore. Forgot what they do call them. Drinking jackets?

Ah yes, The Love Workshop! Derek Bostrum of Meat Puppets fame had a fan page of theirs. Used to have a buncha mp3s of those zanies.

Hi! I had trouble getting in here!
Avatar 3:48pm

It's a Mini Disc I made in 2001 of a little Casio with a coke spilled in it trying to play its demo song.

Clean and orderly. Everyone likes you because you are good.

I work MTW mornings where there's crappy internet and we are not allowed to stream with the work computer.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:36pm

Oh, I forgot about that, chresti! That's sure a drag.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:37pm
Otisss F. Otter:

Hi chresti, it was just the usual hodgepodge of silly mic breaks and songs we all know and love from Sheena's Jungle Dining Room.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:38pm

Oh yeah!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:38pm

Love this song so much!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:38pm

I bet it was great, Otisss, all your shows are!
Avatar 4:40pm
Kitten Sparkles:

This is a mix I did live on a college station in 1982. It includes W Cleon Skousen from "Instant Insanity Drugs", Bloodrock (duh), and Can "Augmn". The edits toward the end of the talking were done at home with a cassette w pause button...
Avatar 4:41pm
Kitten Sparkles:

It coulda been done better, but hey, it wasn't. Still seems to work, tho.
Avatar 4:43pm
Kitten Sparkles:

Sometimes the simple things are best.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:45pm
Rich in Washington:

this is fantastic! Nothing beats the crazy mixing capabilities of a live radio station. That moment where you accidentally play the wrong thing and it works anyway - maybe even BETTER. It's what my pal Jim Larrance calls The Radio Gods.
Avatar 5:03pm
Kitten Sparkles:

This is an amazing piece - David Schafer. It's a bunch of 101 Strings type versions of famous movie themes, with 2 second gaps between, played all at once or something similar.
Avatar 5:04pm
Kitten Sparkles:

It's somewhere between "Easy Listening" and "Difficult Music"
Avatar 5:05pm
Carmichael:

All your recipes are great too, Otis.
Avatar 5:08pm
Carmichael:

Speaking of freaky collages, my most favoritistic FMU moment was when someone played every Phil Collins song at the same time. It was either Scott Williams or Kurt Gottschalk.
Avatar 5:08pm
Mr Fab:

I remember your mixes using “Instant Insanity Drugs”! I taped some of your mixes off the radio on my crappy little mono radio/tape player that mom bought me. “his problem was acid...”
Avatar 5:28pm
Mr Fab:

NEW SHOW! Debuting after Kitten Sparkles today: the exotic world of DJ Shangri-La, and two hours of her "Maraschino Melodrama."
Avatar 5:28pm
Kitten Sparkles:

I'll try to mention that!
Avatar 5:29pm
Kitten Sparkles:

Did I already do the "Son Don't go Near the Indians"/ "White Man Beware" bit on the show? I thought I only did that on a test stream...
Avatar 5:30pm
Mr Fab:

That'd be cool if you mention the new show, thanks!

Of course it means you gotta skeedaddle out of here on time. No afterparty.
Avatar 5:31pm
Mr Fab:

The Indian bit doesn't ring a bell. So hit us with it, keemosabe.

Songs about miscegenation are so much more appealing than twenty records played at once.

Happy to have found the Kitten chat room. All I know is that a smoking jacket is not a tuxedo.

Avatar 5:54pm

Earle Mankey, huh, founding member of Sparks. With a glam-y song about an African uprising. Who knew?
Avatar 5:55pm
Mr Fab:

Carmichael, that is an amazingly accurate description.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:57pm
