I watched "Go Go Mania" on TCM this weekend, a collection of 1964 Brit groups sandwiched between two Beatles live performances. Each song was lip-synched and introduced rather cheesily by Jimmy Saville (ugh!). It was pretty lame except for Spencer Davis Group and the Animals.

I think the next one I'm getting the is Tommy McGee collection. He's from Grand Rapids, MI where I grew up. I had no idea there was such a vibrant r&b scene when I lived there.

He talked about how impressed he is with the compilation. The St. Etienne compilation about the picnic in Central Park seems intriguing though I don't know most of the performers on it.

I watched "Go Go Mania" on TCM this weekend, a collection of 1964 Brit groups sandwiched between two Beatles live performances.
