A Tragedy (Theo Marzials)
Death!
Plop.
The barges down in the river flop.
Flop, plop.
Above, beneath.
From the slimy branches the grey drips drop,
As they scraggle black on the thin grey sky,
Where the black cloud rack-hackles drizzle and fly
To the oozy waters, that lounge and flop
On the black scrag piles, where the loose cords plop,
As the raw wind whines in the thin tree-top.
Plop, plop.
And scudding by
The boatmen call out hoy! and hey!
All is running water and sky,
And my head shrieks -- "Stop,"
And my heart shrieks -- "Die."

"The Sunlight on the Garden"
The sunlight on the garden
Hardens and grows cold.
We cannot cage the minute
Within its nets of gold.
When all is told
We cannot beg for pardon.
Our freedom as free lances
Advances towards its end.
The Earth compels.
Upon it, sonnets and birds descend.
And soon, my friend,
There shall be no time for dances.
The sky was good for flying,
Defying the church bells
And every evil iron
Siren and what it tells.
The Earth compels.
We are dying, Aegypt, dying.
And not expecting pardon,
Hardened in our hearts anew.
But glad to have sat under
Thunder and rain with you.
And grateful, too,
For the sunlight on the garden.

I think I shared this once before, but fuck it. POEMS.
Refrigerator, 1957
By Thomas Lux
More like a vault -- you pull the handle out
and on the shelves: not a lot,
and what there is (a boiled potato
in a bag, a chicken carcass
under foil) looking dispirited,
drained, mugged. This is not
a place to go in hope or hunger.
But, just to the right of the middle
of the middle door shelf, on fire, a lit-from-within red,
heart red, sexual red, wet neon red,
shining red in their liquid, exotic,
aloof, slumming
in such company: a jar
of maraschino cherries. Three-quarters
full, fiery globes, like strippers
at a church social. Maraschino cherries, maraschino,
the only foreign word I knew. Not once
did I see these cherries employed: not
in a drink, nor on top
of a glob of ice cream,
or just pop one in your mouth. Not once.
The same jar there through an entire
childhood of dull dinners -- bald meat,
pocked peas and, see above,
boiled potatoes. Maybe
they came over from the old country,
family heirlooms, or were status symbols
bought with a piece of the first paycheck
from a sweatshop,
which beat the pig farm in Bohemia,
handed down from my grandparents
to my parents
to be someday mine,
then my child's?
They were beautiful
and, if I never ate one,
it was because I knew it might be missed
or because I knew it would not be replaced
and because you do not eat
that which rips your heart with joy.
slugluv1313:
my favorite is his "love poem" written to Lassie, on her 17th birthday: "Lend us a couple of bob til Thursday/I'm absolutely skint/But I'm expecting a postal order and I can pay you back as soon as it comes."

The last show for a while, Hits From the Crypt.
When I saw the new schedule, my eyes nearly flipped.
The show after Marty and still up for a party
Before we hear Darren, we'll hear music that's scarin'.
Don't go to bed,
so you can hear music of the dead.
My left arm is tingling, and I think I smell toast.
These sounds are cooking, like a beef roast.

when lockdown first started, i found that i HAD to go out, just to take a walk -- and any sort of physical exercise really helps . . . years ago, i was working full time but would go to a Hatha Yoga class after work on Mondays, and then train in HapKiDo after work for two hours Tuesdays through Fridays . . . and sure, life was far from *perfect* but at least it was easier to deal with all the CRAP that gets thrown at you . . . and as with antidepressants, you gotta find what type of physical exercise works best for you (recently was prescribed Paxil, it did NOT go well -- totally put me to sleep, so i stopped taking it after two or three days)

is it possible to get another social worker? someone who actually knows what they are doing (i have dealt with many who are just kinda . . . passing through) . . . or some sort of therapist/counselor/advocate? or some sort of group? (even if virtual)
dealing with trauma is fucking DAUNTING -- and unfortunately there are too many out there (either clueless, or just do not want to be bothered) who give you all this "just get over it" CRAP -- so being able to talk with someone who is there/gets it really really help
