Thanks Aitch. New Orleans didn't get hit hard at all, it was the southwestern part of the state that got it bad - the Lake Charles area, close to the Texas line. Certainly wouldn't mind settling down in Thirroul though. Beautiful spot.

true, moving sucks (esp. in sucky weather!) -- when i moved into this place in 1982 (yikes!) i wanted to find a place where i could be for more than a few months -- prior to that, between dorms, off campus apartments, etc. -- i had moved something like 12 times in 4 years :(

Some friends of mine from NYU formed a great psychedelic band , the Tadpoles, that led to a friendship with Sonic Boom. So many nights spent listening to Spaceman 3.

i don't know what inland empire is but at first i thought that station id (if it's the usual one on nowhere places. i didn't hear it this time) was Ruth. as i first heard the id near the beginning of remote broadcasts, which is also the first time i'd ever heard of Ruth. (and i think she was at the station when i first heard it)
...but then i decided it's someone sv knows.

@ sv -- oh yes!
to both jungle/dnb scene in NYC -- i still have some issues of the monthly Flyer, a little booklet that listed bars/lounges, events, etc. (before the internet really took over)
and definitely Sara Kernochan! she also is the filmmaker behind the documentaries Marjoe and Thoth, and released two albums in the early 70s -- i recall hearing some of those songs on the old WNEW-FM when i was growing up, but years later, these records were extremely difficult to find, and Kernochan allegedly did "not like to talk about them"
