My dad had a heart attack in 1970, four years before I was born. He told me that before that, his daily intake was a pack of Camel straights, a pack of Larks (charcoal in the filter!), and a pack of Newports, which he used to "cool down" from the six "black tobacco" Cuban cigars.

This was on a work day.

Not many finnish brands were unfiltered, except for at least the variety of North State which was sold in a green pack. I remember desperately trying to learn smoking (like Bill Clinton, I had problems inhaling the smoke) and unfortunately eventually learned. Oh, the crudely tampered library card I used as a ID to buy smokes as a 14-year old....
