Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:37am

@melinda it was a little risky for me since I have Type 2 diabetes, but dropping the weight was worth it. I've dropped 67 pounds since last Feb, and I'm nearly off all medications. My doc told me my A1C and fasting test were getting almost too low. My last visit I had my first problem-free blood test in about 30 years
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:38am
Doug Schulkind:

@Phillippe Bastille
That is wonderful and inspiring! Well done, Sir!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:41am
Phillippe Bastille:

Thank you! It comes with costs, though -- I cut out all beverages that have calories, so it means I haven't had a cocktail in over a year. It was the most obvious thing to cut out, because I was usually shoveling food when I had a drink. It was an easy 500-700 calories to cut out. But I sure miss a nice glass of bourbon when I watch the sun go down or a G&T on the porch on a hot summer day..

@Phillippe Bastille/Melinda, I'm also doing intermittent fasting (and my wife). I didn't lose as much weight as Phillippe, about 10 lbs (but I didn't cut out as much as he did), but metabolically, my blood sugar and cholesterol improved dramatically, and my wife's labs, which had been more worrisome, did an even more dramatic improvement. Basically fast 16 hours, eat 8 hours (which means 1st meal noon to 1). Takes some getting used to, but not as bad as it sounds.

@doctorjazz essentially the same schedule as me. I'd like to be able to start eating at about 10:00, but one of my sons that still lives with us doesn't get home from work until about 6:30, so dinner tends to run late. One thing that helped my resolve was that the diet coincided with a new residence. I absolutely adore where I am now, particularly compared to where we were before, so the positive outlook helped immensely. Easy to reinvent yourself when everything is different.

Lyrics:

I had a sleep last night that scared me

Upon a strange and distant shore

And though I feel inside it can't be

I know that I've been there once before

I’ve never been there in the daytime
I might have been there in the night
But I’ve no doubt it was no playtime
In fact I’ve never known such right

I know that I have been there once before

Although it’s in the future I am sure

The flight were in a tight formation
Each model drops the ones before
Metallic bells in their migration
I know a few will fly no more

A supersonic flying delta
A flying fortress at its side
Spectators flee in holy terror
As they watch the two collide

I know that I have been there once before
Although it’s in the future I am sure
A day long second and they’re falling
A “---“ of smoke and then the flame
I hear the sound of voices calling , calling
