Did you know WFMU gave away a "vinyl killer" record-playing yellow mini-bus as a marathon premium. Probably 15 years ago. It came with lots of WFMU stickers with which to decorate it.

Good morning, Webhamster Henry! Really Lisa! holland oats!

@Doug and @Webhamster Henry: Didn't know that it was a premium, nice gadget for sure! As said, I wouldn't put it on my more precious copies in my vinyl collection because of the fear of a bad needle, but this thing surely is fun for "normal" records!

@Linda Lee Welcome to America's Original vacationland!
  9:41am
bigplanetnoise:

TN is indeed really beautiful, but even tho it feels physically “samey“ to upstate NY, there’s still a fair amount of culture shock to deal with. Once you’re over that hump, it’s pretty amazing. Not to mention my taxes being about 1/4 of what they were in my upstate world.
Avatar 9:41am
Linda Lee:

..& the reason it stays so wild here is the proximity, since we provide new york's water. the state & city have repressed development here for a century now, to keep the water clean. i'm blessed to be at home here for 35 years! :-)

Yes, definitely some lovely scenery in parts of NJ. But the cost of living.. oof!
Haven't been to the Catskills since family car trips in the early 70s! It was the place to escape to in summertime, from NJ anyway.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:43am
Doug Schulkind:

Come gather under the collective umbrella of love, dougseidel.
Avatar 9:44am
Linda Lee:

it still is the place, i think, Really Lisa & now it's 'hip' for the moneyed. not a nowhere backwater any more.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:45am
Doug Schulkind:

One of our Drummer Stream shows is relocating to the Catskills region. You will hear the beauty of the environs come through airwaves for certain.
  9:45am
bigplanetnoise:

Nashville and surrounding areas are such cultural melting pots these days, it’s fairly easy to assimilate. That said, it’s still a different animal compared to the North.
Avatar 9:46am
Linda Lee:

what's unfortunate about this is, the non-moneyed are being priced out. so the rift that's always existed between the 'townies' & the vacationers is just deepening.. reflecting american society generally.
Avatar 9:47am
Linda Lee:

good to hear it, Doug! the gifts are many here!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:47am

All true, bigplanetnoise! And nashville is a blue dot in a vast red world.

Avatar 9:49am
Linda Lee:

never mind a tent. there's an extra room! i'd love it! the cabin's under contract now, though. i may not be long for the state. i'll let you know!
Avatar 9:50am
Really Lisa:

LL, I bet! Being priced out is a prob even for rental communities in NJ. If I had steady work that allowed for remote working from home, I'd be outta here asap.
But yes, catskiils do look lovely.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:51am
