	9:41am bigplanetnoise: TN is indeed really beautiful, but even tho it feels physically “samey“ to upstate NY, there’s still a fair amount of culture shock to deal with. Once you’re over that hump, it’s pretty amazing. Not to mention my taxes being about 1/4 of what they were in my upstate world.
	9:41am Linda Lee: ..& the reason it stays so wild here is the proximity, since we provide new york's water. the state & city have repressed development here for a century now, to keep the water clean. i'm blessed to be at home here for 35 years! :-)

	9:43am Really Lisa: Yes, definitely some lovely scenery in parts of NJ. But the cost of living.. oof! Haven't been to the Catskills since family car trips in the early 70s! It was the place to escape to in summertime, from NJ anyway.

	9:45am bigplanetnoise: Nashville and surrounding areas are such cultural melting pots these days, it’s fairly easy to assimilate. That said, it’s still a different animal compared to the North.
	9:46am Linda Lee: what's unfortunate about this is, the non-moneyed are being priced out. so the rift that's always existed between the 'townies' & the vacationers is just deepening.. reflecting american society generally.

	10:48am Linda Lee: the new school in the 60s was hot. they invted John Cage to teach a class there, in the early 60s. he agreed on the condition that the class be about fungi. so they let him teach about fungi! that was the start of the New York Mycological Society. they had a blast traveling the tri state area, partying & hunting mushrooms.

	9:41am bigplanetnoise: TN is indeed really beautiful, but even tho it feels physically “samey“ to upstate NY, there’s still a fair amount of culture shock to deal with. Once you’re over that hump, it’s pretty amazing. Not to mention my taxes being about 1/4 of what they were in my upstate world.
	9:41am Linda Lee: ..& the reason it stays so wild here is the proximity, since we provide new york's water. the state & city have repressed development here for a century now, to keep the water clean. i'm blessed to be at home here for 35 years! :-)
