Speaking of which, Keilidh, one-line D&D recap: "YOU'RE NOT MY FATHER!" Because we lost so many players to Fathers Day (and one to the first Liverpool match) that we had to call off the game for the first time after thirteen(!) consecutive Sundays!

Lucifer (Aleister Crowley)
His body a bloody-ruby radiant
With noble passion, sun-souled Lucifer
Swept through the dawn colossal, swift aslant
On Eden's imbecile perimeter.
He blessed nonentity with every curse
And spiced with sorrow the dull soul of sense,
Breathed life into the sterile universe,
With Love and Knowledge drove out innocence
The Key of Joy is disobedience.

By James Wright
When I went out to kill myself, I caught
A pack of hoodlums beating up a man.
Running to spare his suffering, I forgot
My name, my number, how my day began,
How soldiers milled around the garden stone
And sang amusing songs; how all that day
Their javelins measured crowds; how I alone
Bargained the proper coins, and slipped away.
Banished from heaven, I found this victim beaten,
Stripped, kneed, and left to cry. Dropping my rope
Aside, I ran, ignored the uniforms:
Then I remembered bread my flesh had eaten,
The kiss that ate my flesh. Flayed without hope,
I held the man for nothing in my arms.

@Andrew: I had the same wonder. Matt said "SALT": he really pronounced the ALL CAPS. Would have liked that with the "Soo" pronunciation.
Also, one more. There's no way this poem was actually dedicated to Jesus:
The Windhover
By Gerard Manley Hopkins
I caught this morning morning's minion, king-
dom of daylight's dauphin, dapple-dawn-drawn Falcon, in his riding
Of the rolling level underneath him steady air, and striding
High there, how he rung upon the rein of a wimpling wing
In his ecstasy! then off, off forth on swing,
As a skate's heel sweeps smooth on a bow-bend: the hurl and gliding
Rebuffed the big wind. My heart in hiding
Stirred for a bird, – the achieve of, the mastery of the thing!
Brute beauty and valour and act, oh, air, pride, plume, here
Buckle! AND the fire that breaks from thee then, a billion
Times told lovelier, more dangerous, O my chevalier!
No wonder of it: shéer plód makes plough down sillion
Shine, and blue-bleak embers, ah my dear,
Fall, gall themselves, and gash gold-vermilion.

THE THOUGHT-FOX (Ted Hughes)
I imagine this midnight moment’s forest:
Something else is alive
Beside the clock’s loneliness
And this blank page where my fingers move.
Through the window I see no star:
Something more near
Though deeper within darkness
Is entering the loneliness:
Cold, delicately as the dark snow,
A fox’s nose touches twig, leaf;
Two eyes serve a movement, that now
And again now, and now, and now
Sets neat prints into the snow
Between trees, and warily a lame
Shadow lags by stump and in hollow
Of a body that is bold to come
Across clearings, an eye,
A widening deepening greenness,
Brilliantly, concentratedly,
Coming about its own business
Till, with a sudden sharp hot stink of fox
It enters the dark hole of the head.
The window is starless still; the clock ticks,
The page is printed.

Here's a dad joke I found in my email archives:
A woman walks into a diner carrying a dog under her arm. She puts the dog on the counter and announces that the dog can talk. The woman says she has $100 she’s willing to bet anyone who says he can’t. The head cook quickly takes the bet, and the dog’s owner looks at the dog and asks, “What’s the thing on top of this building that keeps the rain out?” The dog answers, “Roof.” The cook says, “Who are you kidding? I’m not paying.” The dog’s owner says, “Double or nothing, and I’ll ask him something else.” The cook agrees and the owner turns to her dog and asks, “Who was the greatest baseball player ever?” The dog answers with a muffled “Ruth.” With that the cook picks them both up and tosses them out on the street. As they bounce on the sidewalk in front of the diner, the dog looks at his owner and says, “DiMaggio?”
