Musical theater from off the beaten path. Obscure and unusual show tunes from within the canon and without, flops, failures, and the newest works from up-and-coming artists—plus tried-and-true hits. Also, occasional appearances from songs that are not show tunes (but only if they go really well with show tunes).

I just want to apologize for the fact that this show makes no mention of the most important movement of our time which is BLACK LIVES MATTER! This show was already put together before the move and I have been very busy BUT that is not a good excuse and I should have made the time. SO next week please tune in to a show that will spotlight the genius Black composers and lyricists of musical theatre!!!

whoa, the playlist not opening for a few minutes made me sad and concerned. You can disregard the the scathing FMU message I sent about you reneging on 90 years of Acid Jazz Hands.

I have several excuses for my confusion thinking no new AJH show this evening (link in the drummer daily email pointing to Larry's guest show last week...), but will spare all and focus on enjoying the show.

@doctorjazz: it is swingin!! somehow. I go for a 2 mile walk every day at 5:30 and the streets are full of people getting takeout drinks from bars (yes, takeout drinks!)

I saw "After You, Mr. Hyde" in 1968 at the Goodspeed. There have been lots of J&H's since!

This melody is so, so similar to something else. Secret Agent Man? What is it.
Avatar 8:06pm
Bronwyn Bishop:

It does sound familiar- I was wondering about that myself and came to the conclusion that it just sounds very similar to a lot of things. Like kind of a generic bluesy rock "get down" song
Avatar 8:08pm
Bronwyn Bishop:

Ok Cmurtha I just listened to Secret Agent Man and it is IDENTICAL. Oy

Hi folk! My mom saw Jerry Orbach in Broadway shows in his heyday (shows that came to California) and adored him, then loved him on Law & Order. He's great.

Bronwyn I understand about the timing of the show and BLM. You're sharing the work of many great black artists. Thank you.

Was listening all the way to the end but was walking to the ATM and then to the Mexican food cart to buy dinner so wasn't watching the comments. Which tune were you saying to listen to while walking around Times Square? And great to have you back on. Thank you.

The one that’s good Times Square listening (specifically good post pandemic Times Square listening) is “the American Dream”
