and hazel, don't worry, every single DJ is reading a scripted pro-protest statement this last week. Which is somehow not political.

How can someone tune in to hear black music and want to delete politics? Or rock music, or any music.

anyways, if it's tiring to hear about certain things.. imagine how tiring it probably is to directly experience it.. so..

Had the government and pharmaceutical industries tackled AIDS in the early 1980s, Schulman said it wouldn't have become a global pandemic.

WFMU is a freeform station kept running by asking for donations, eshewing the commerical enterprises that have eaten up most independent media outlets. That means the station, the DJs, are free to make whatever content they want, without fear of having sponsors pull their support.
Also, I do not know where you live, but the station is right across the river from Manhattan, and most of the DJs live in NYC. We are inundated by the effects of what is happening. It would be crazy to not address something that is effecting us all in a very tangible way.
Also, have you not been paying attention to the music that is being played? Like, all week? Do you like any black musicians?
I for one come to listen to WFMU as a way to decompress from obsessively checking the news, but not feel I'm taking part in some escapism that would be ignoring the very real issues going on right now, and the people who are laying their lives on the line for a better a life for ALL OF US.

“Reagan didn’t seem to know who I was,” she wrote. “He gave me a distant look with those milky eyes and shook my hand weakly. Oh, my, he’s gonzo, I thought.” But a few minutes later, he snapped out of it and from that point on seemed perfectly fine. When asked, White House aides admitted to Stahl that they had witnessed similar episodes.

W has done one very smart thing for his rehab tour: he has stepped out of sight for years at a time.

At 73, Ronald Reagan would be the oldest president ever re-elected. Some voters were beginning to imagine grandpa — who can never find his reading glasses — in charge of a bristling nuclear arsenal, and it was making them nervous. Worse, my father now seemed to be giving them legitimate reason for concern. My heart sank as he floundered his way through his responses, fumbling with his notes, uncharacteristically lost for words. He looked tired and bewildered.

Spent the day inside but gaming with good friends. But have been sitting out back watching the sparrows with Kate and listening to Therese this past hour, and that sure is nice, too.
Hey, queems!

The special note said that if this “misclassification error” had not occurred, the “overall unemployment rate would have been about 3 percentage points higher than reported,” meaning the unemployment rate would be about 16.3 percent for May.

The core point here is regardless of what you agree or disagree with, you shouldn’t tell someone who is doing work for you for free (like a DJ) what to do. That’s it.
You don’t have to pay to listen and you don’t have to pay to comment.
