	6:17pm Billy Jam: tis da last chicken wing of the season (#sad) ---- but lots O great music to share today - nearly all brand new 2020 recordings - releases - for this show that is dedicated to good friend of this WFMU show Casey Karns in Denver who, dating back to September 2014 at his then brand new hip-hop Mile HIgh City business, has several times kindly hosted PTNOTR WFMU live remote broadcasts from his Meadowlark Kitchen in Denver CO. Sadly this week Casey announced that his wonderful art-rich restaurant/bar & hip-hop club at nite, due to the effects of the dismal quarantine economy, would not be reopening but keeping its doors on Larimer & 27th streets in Denver closed forever . #FuckedUpShit - Much gratitude to Casey Karns for always looking out for WFMU's "Put The Needle On The Record" over the years and not only opening up his business space to our radio station and this show (see/listen to WFMU archives) but also generously providing this budget-challenged FMU volunteer DJ a place to crash while in Denver and hence making it all possible. Thank YOU Casey Karns and hopefully you and the Meadowlark Kitchen will come back in a future time in some other Denver location - ----->>>>Moving on to the other underlying message of this show that has always stood in firm solidarity with everyone who is (and has) protested the systemic racism in this country and around the globe and steadfastly stands with the protesters of the past week and anytime (past/future) who actively protest and oppose the culture of injustice that has allowed white supremacy to reign for so long. 	6:59pm ALF of Hip Hop Slam: So, as I sit here already with anger due to the recent events pertaining to the George Floyd murder, I was honestly shocked to see Put The Needle On The Record not on the new WFMU schedule. Right now is the time we need a dedicated Hip Hop show to be on the air. I only can imagine the various revolutionary or prophets of rage artists from the 80’s and 90’s that Billy Jam would most likely play right now. Those artists predicted what’s to come and expressed frustrations from Black Americans. Granted the schedule was changed before the George Floyd incident, BUT why cut the only dedicated Hip Hop show at the station? It absolutely doesn’t make sense to me. At this current time, fans of the show don’t have an alternative Hip Hop show to listen to on WFMU. Yeah, some of the other DJ’s slip Hip Hop music here and there during their shows, but me personally I don’t count those because it’s generally not any of the new independent artists that Billy blesses his listeners with for nearly the 15 years he has been at the station. I honestly feel that with the show being cut, it’s like pushing the dagger deeper into my heart that America started with me being called a nigger when I was a kid and sprinkles of bigotry and prejudice as I got older. Although I haven’t been consistently on this comments board every single week, I honestly download the archived show and enjoy reading back the comments. I have loved and supported WFMU since January 2007 when I first appeared as a guest on his show at the station. However, starting next Friday I won’t be able to listen to Billy’s show live for any type of healing that I may need during these times! I too miss Frangry and Michele’s “Shut Up Wierdo” show, but c’mon man! You gotta admit, the transitions between Billy’s and SUW shows were outstanding every week back in the day. The Friday 6 pm until 9pm time frame was enjoyable to listen to! Shut Up Weirdo followed by Put The Needle On The Record and then Fine Wine’s….pretty dag on good lineup! Why not relive that lineup again? If you all only knew how much time and dedication Billy has put into each and every show for the past 15 years, I can tell you, it ain’t easy. As long as I’ve known Billy, his motto has been “The show must go on!” Despite whatever circumstance he is in, he will find some way to broadcast his show. C’mon! After suffering agonizing pain from breaking his leg a couple of months ago, he STILL managed to edit his show! Also, you all probably know this but he managed to tune into the show and update the playlist from his hospital bed after he had surgery! I really hope the station reconsiders its decision for it’s recent lineup changes especially during these troubled times in this country! Thank you for taking the time to read my post/comment!

I agree with Alf, I know Bill the best part of 20 yrs, I have never known anyone as dedicated and has a love of HipHop as much as he does. The amount of work he puts it into each show is amazing. When he returned to Dublin he has often done the show from my living room. Even when I collect him at the airport it would be a race to get home and check to make sure everything is good with the show. It's good to know this isn't Bills last show as he confirmed he will be back on the 3rd of July what a show. Bill mad respect for ya and the work ya do. Sadly this week Casey announced that his wonderful art-rich restaurant/bar & hip-hop club at nite, due to the effects of the dismal quarantine economy, would not be reopening but keeping its doors on Larimer & 27th streets in Denver closed forever . #FuckedUpShit - Much gratitude to Casey Karns for always looking out for WFMU's "Put The Needle On The Record" over the years and not only opening up his business space to our radio station and this show (see/listen to WFMU archives) but also generously providing this budget-challenged FMU volunteer DJ a place to crash while in Denver and hence making it all possible. Thank YOU Casey Karns and hopefully you and the Meadowlark Kitchen will come back in a future time in some other Denver location - ----->>>>Moving on to the other underlying message of this show that has always stood in firm solidarity with everyone who is (and has) protested the systemic racism in this country and around the globe and steadfastly stands with the protesters of the past week and anytime (past/future) who actively protest and oppose the culture of injustice that has allowed white supremacy to reign for so long. 	6:59pm ALF of Hip Hop Slam: So, as I sit here already with anger due to the recent events pertaining to the George Floyd murder, I was honestly shocked to see Put The Needle On The Record not on the new WFMU schedule. Right now is the time we need a dedicated Hip Hop show to be on the air. I only can imagine the various revolutionary or prophets of rage artists from the 80’s and 90’s that Billy Jam would most likely play right now. Those artists predicted what’s to come and expressed frustrations from Black Americans. Granted the schedule was changed before the George Floyd incident, BUT why cut the only dedicated Hip Hop show at the station? It absolutely doesn’t make sense to me. At this current time, fans of the show don’t have an alternative Hip Hop show to listen to on WFMU. Yeah, some of the other DJ’s slip Hip Hop music here and there during their shows, but me personally I don’t count those because it’s generally not any of the new independent artists that Billy blesses his listeners with for nearly the 15 years he has been at the station. I honestly feel that with the show being cut, it’s like pushing the dagger deeper into my heart that America started with me being called a nigger when I was a kid and sprinkles of bigotry and prejudice as I got older. Although I haven’t been consistently on this comments board every single week, I honestly download the archived show and enjoy reading back the comments. I have loved and supported WFMU since January 2007 when I first appeared as a guest on his show at the station. However, starting next Friday I won’t be able to listen to Billy’s show live for any type of healing that I may need during these times! I too miss Frangry and Michele’s “Shut Up Wierdo” show, but c’mon man! You gotta admit, the transitions between Billy’s and SUW shows were outstanding every week back in the day. The Friday 6 pm until 9pm time frame was enjoyable to listen to! Shut Up Weirdo followed by Put The Needle On The Record and then Fine Wine’s….pretty dag on good lineup! Why not relive that lineup again? If you all only knew how much time and dedication Billy has put into each and every show for the past 15 years, I can tell you, it ain’t easy. As long as I’ve known Billy, his motto has been “The show must go on!” Despite whatever circumstance he is in, he will find some way to broadcast his show. C’mon! After suffering agonizing pain from breaking his leg a couple of months ago, he STILL managed to edit his show! Also, you all probably know this but he managed to tune into the show and update the playlist from his hospital bed after he had surgery! I really hope the station reconsiders its decision for it’s recent lineup changes especially during these troubled times in this country! Thank you for taking the time to read my post/comment!

I agree with Alf, I know Bill the best part of 20 yrs, I have never known anyone as dedicated and has a love of HipHop as much as he does. The amount of work he puts it into each show is amazing. When he returned to Dublin he has often done the show from my living room. Even when I collect him at the airport it would be a race to get home and check to make sure everything is good with the show. It's good to know this isn't Bills last show as he confirmed he will be back on the 3rd of July what a show. Bill mad respect for ya and the work ya do.
