And hyperlocal to the East Village — which I know you know — this video of a local resident flipping out on rioters is everything as the kids say. Filmed on 2nd Avenue near 7th near the theater that shows “Stomp” at. www.instagram.com...

So the scariest part of this to me is the NYPD doubling patrol size from 4,000 to 8,000 with no clear indication when that will stop. Imagine being stopped by a tired or amped up cop that is pulling a full 12 hours as a shift. It’s like this “solutions” will only make things worse.
@melinda: You stay home or… Something. Either you are given a summons or maybe locked up. Who knows… Literally; no clear guidance on how that would work if you are out after 11:00pm.

Whatever is happening in the Bronx and in Herald Square is not a protest. It’s rioting and looting happening hours later.

It might sound like I am forcing a division between protestors and rioters but I have no need to force it: The protests organized by blacks have been peaceful and the majority of the looting and mayhem in the East Village and SoHo is being caused by teenage and college aged white guys.
Of course they smashed the window to B&H… What blowback will those brats ever feel?

***
“That’s not what this is about!” a young woman who was red in the face shouted over and over again.
***
“They’re not with us!” shouted Steevo Anthony, 33, a supervisor at Whole Foods from Brooklyn, as he moved away from the looting. “Keep walking!”
Trembling with emotion, he added: “It’s giving a bad name to us people who are out here trying to do the right thing, the people who walked away.”
