Earlier tracks reminded me of Salim Sesler, who I did not see when visiting Istanbul in 2010 much to my frustration as he passed a few years later.

@Carmichael - it's 10.20pm here and since lockdown I've taken to having a 'nightcap'. It goes well with this excellent music.

When this Headington disk was reviewed in Fanfare in late '97, one of the reviewers wrote, "Where Headington scores an unequivocable hit is in the single-movement Serenade for cello and strings (first performed in 1995), which is gently informed by the spirit, not of Britten this time, but of Elgar, whose own Cello Concerto steals into Headington's fabric in a gentle tribute."

Enjoyed the last 45 minutes of your program w/ dinner, thank you, David. My stop. See you and all a little farther down the line.
Dean:
Of this recording by Xue Wei another FF reviewer wrote in '92 that Headington's "1959 violin concerto is lyrical and glowing, the idiom comfortably tonal but spiced with a subtle use of dissonance to heighten tension... Once again Xue-Wei plays gorgeously, never losing his lustrous tone."
Needless to say, I love reading Fanfare.
