The couesnophone, also known as the goofus or queenophone, is a free-reed musical instrument resembling a saxophone. Its reeds vibrate when the desired keys are activated and the player blows through a tube. ... However, the couesnophone is a polyphonic instrument, while the saxophone is monophonic.

This date does "crackle with energy", as Master Drummer put it. Maybe BECAUSE they could venture more ;out" than usual...

I had never heard (of) Buratti before stumbling on this record. Need to hear more!
@doctorjazz
Side B of this album is even cracklier.

Yesterday on NPR's Morning Edition, they had on poet Kwame Alexander. He was reading poems about grief sent in by listeners, and one of them said that exact thing! Poems are words made liquid that can crack stone, or somesuch. I love that that thought is hanging in the air right now.

I first heard Mary Gauthier on Global Jukebox, an early internet-only radio show out of the UK hosted by Paul Sherratt. He turned me on to a ton of brilliant American musicians, including Laura Veirs, who is coming up in a couple of tracks.

Today's supposed to be Bandcamp's day of selling music without taking a cut (all proceeds to go to artists). Not sure if the site crashed, but have tried following a few links from my email there, and I don't get through. The app did go through, but really slowly.
