Hi all! Great to hear the show now..."sophisticated propaganda" perfect lyrics for these crazy Trump times...although that's giving him too much credit because his propaganda isn't even sophisticated! ha

Lockdown challenge of the day: My landlord notified me a plumber has to enter my apartment tomorrow to check for a leak that's supposedly leaking into the unit below, although I don't see anything. Hope the plumber will wear protective gear, but can't count on it. I guess I can only protect myself and hope for the best!
  9:22pm
Bradly:

How's everyone else holding up?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:22pm
jj.:

eek, sorry to hear that. literally the same thing happened at studio J a few weeks ago, though the apartment above & it was definitely audible. it went fine, but still stressful. solidarity!
  9:24pm
Bradly:

Ah, sorry to hear...yes solidarity! Glad you got through it okay.
  9:25pm
JakeGould:

@Bradley: Old or new building? In old NYC boilings pipes “sweat” a lot if the airspace is closed up and then end up leaking.

My childhood tenement dump had a partial bathroom ceiling collapse because of that. My dad was in the shower when it happened. Oh joy!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:27pm
melinda:

hi all

@Jake Very old and yeah, the pipes are old too. Thanks for explaining. Sorry to hear about your dad and the ceiling in your old place!

yeah! i caught a beautiful streamed set last night by jupiter blue, which is tara middleton & dm hotep from the current arkestra, playing beautiful electronics/guitar/vocals space jazz. hope to play some of it on a future show.

Oh nice, jj. She has quite a presence. Her and whoever that youngster is who dances with them from time to time are show stealers.
Avatar 10:16pm
RMR:

Arlo!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:17pm
jj.:

some of my first favorite sun ra involved june tyson, so it's amazing to not ony hear someone else in that "chair" of the arkestra but taking it to the next level.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:20pm
zzz:

wow this arlo guthrie was really cool. i know like a handful of the ‘hits’ but that sounded unlike (and better) than all of them
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:22pm
jj.:

yeah, it's about as freaky-folky as arlo got, i think. really random live album with a few originals that never appeared anywhere else, including that, as well as an alternate version of alice's restaurant that literally doesn't make any sense. it's like a stoned text-bot.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:24pm
zzz:

hilarious. huge fan of alice’s of course so will seek that out.
  10:26pm
Bradly:

yeah, really liked that Arlo song and don't get into his music that much
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:26pm
jj.:

i grew up on alice (can probably quote it still) & saw a bunch of arlo shows growing up, and can say with authority that he achieves a a really remarkable non-linearity on that live release. i've even gone looking for live tapes from that era that might catch more of that vibe, but have never found any.
  10:31pm
Bradly:

That's cool you grew up on him and saw him live!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:31pm
zzz:

been trying to introduce alice’s to my young daughter as a fun musicy shary thxgiving thing we can do but have hesitated with some of the ... questionable aspects ?? maybe the twisted stoney version is our solution hah
  10:32pm
JakeGould:

Nice vibe right now.

Good evening! Thanks Jesse for making the trek to Studio J and playing music for everyone.

Hope you are doing well.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:38pm
deesat:

hello frow show, i like you
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:38pm
jj.:

alas @zzz, the twisted stony version no longer has anything to do with thanksgiving! is the original that questionable?
Avatar 10:41pm
RMR:

Just about littering. No harm there. Give it a go.
  10:43pm
rw:

Jake! Yeah, I started looking in to that stuff and filling out the forms and then gave up. I'm doing fine. Hope you're hanging in there yourself!
Avatar 10:44pm
RMR:

And just like that, Dump appears like magic in Studio J.
  10:46pm
JakeGould:

@rw: Yeah, after I posted that I read the details and “small businesses” with 500 employees or less. LOLSTFU! That means that real small businesses need to get to the back of the line.
Avatar 10:48pm
RMR:

Wow. This is gold. Where did you find this Gene Clark?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:48pm
zzz:

ehh, agree nothing really questionable in terms of like 99% of the alice’s song/story, (in fact 99% of it i’d love her to hear) just the tidbit at the end when it gets to talking about two folks singing it together yadda yadda..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:49pm
jj.:

found the gene clark on the dimeadozen bittorrent site!

Studio J = bathroom??
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:01pm

Is the reverb an effect or the acoustics of your space? That's one big bathroom!
Avatar 11:04pm
Matt from the future:

You've got shades of Pauline Oliveros's Deep Listening going on there.
  11:06pm

Wow, this an awesome version of Yellow Submarine haha

Fans of Nels, hunt out the three Cryptogramophone tributes to his friend and colleague Eric Von Essen. He's not on every track, but the crew who honored Von Essen are amazing. Volume 1, for instance: https://www.discogs.com/Various-The-Music-Of-Eric-Von-Essen-Volume-I/release/443632
