@Bad bob: I remember the regular Ballantine wasn't all that great, but they had some sort of special brew that wasn't bad. Am I thinking of the right thing?

Old Gold was Tom Waits's brand. We smoked them in his honor when he first got sick in ... 1996? That was also in Providence.

Didn't know that, Handy. No cigarettes are more Tom Waits than Old Golds. Aside from maybe Bugler rolling tobacco.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:52pm

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:52pm
Phillippe Bastille:

@mariano was Old Gold the cig that had the newspaper boy walking around yelling "Old Gold Cigarettes!" or something like that?

i think the ballentine ale was good and the beer wasn't.
then we discovered red cap ale, which tasted exactly the same as the ballentine ale but cost less.

I think it was better when Ice Cube stopped cutting tracks and just starred in those General Foods International Coffees commercials. Easier to see him reminiscing about that waiter in Paris.
