Hope everyone tuned in today is safe and healthy in this time of COVID-19 quarantine - coincidentally the general theme of today’s show with some brand new March 2020 releases directly addressing the topic of life in quarantine - another underlying theme is Gang Starr's legacy if you listen closely and know your Guru/Preemo catalog --- with the message of today’s show been that THIS TOO SHALL PASS so hang in there and stay positive. Lots of great new 2020 music today including a cut from the brand new release this week from LA emcee Pawz One and German producer DJ Jister ("Watch & Learn") + a killer new track from Hiero crew member Casual in which he mentions Lagunitas (home of listener Chris)…. Due to recently having bad accident in which I broke my leg in several places I have to go back into Oakland’s Highland Hospital this week for surgery (metal plates in leg and foot) with the operation luckily been handled by a medical crew that includes one of the artists played today (Swapnil who I call “Dr Hip-Hop”) who in addition to being an orthopedic surgeon is also a dope hip-hop producer. Because of scheduling of this surgery within close proximity to airing of this week’s PTNOTR show - I have pre-recorded this week's one hour music show to ensure that the “show must go on” - But hopefully I will be in a position to do live comments and playlist input from my hospital bed during the show’s live airing (Friday 7pm = 4pm local CA time) - If so will try and include a photo from my hospital bed - and if not will have Olivia (who will be today’s board-op - give her a big shout-out for her hard work as part of skeleton FMU crew at this time) handle the playlist info input. Meantime big THANK-YOU to all the WFMU crew members who have sent me positive wishes including the (incredibly supportive) station manager Ken, Olivia, Bronwyn B, Marcel M, Mr Fine Wine, Stashu, Tamar & Brian Dunleavy. Want to send a further shout-out/thank-you to all those friends who have been helping me here in Oakland since the accident last week and awaiting surgery + have been laid up at home - both in person and via phone communications including Celeste, DJ Cellskii, DJ ALF, Karen @Giant Peach, Bill U, DJ Marz, Joe Kemper and the aforementioned orthopedic surgeon/ producer Swapnil (aka Dr Hip-Hop). thank YOU all and be safe and keep it locked into W F M U know!
