Meghan:

Hahahaha! Morning Annie! I hope you are holding up ok!
Avatar 7:02am
annie:

oh sure... personally,i think this whole social distancing thing is ridiculous, but i tend to have unpopular points of view. i have many friends who really want to isolate. all the more power to them, i say..
  7:02am
Listener Robert:

So, Meghan, are you going to listen and react, "Get that bum off the air!"? Like Steve Martin used to go into the audience and heckle himself?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:04am
Meghan:

hahaha! Who does this lady think she is! Why did she pick THIS song!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:05am
Meghan:

Though I am already annoyed at the volume. bad dj!
Avatar 7:05am
annie:

it's a golden opportunity for someone to resurrect Get Smart's cone of silence.
  7:06am
Listener Robert:

It's frequently that way on this stream, Meghan. Has been since the beginning.
  7:07am
Listener Robert:

Annie, if you want to know seriously, the CDC's data show this epidemic started diminishing 2 weeks ago, BEFORE all these extreme measures.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:08am
Meghan:

It is? I do know I was in Studio C when I was doing this one.... and I know we have to crank up the whole way.... But the other studios don't have that issue.... are my current shows quiet too?
  7:09am
Jefff:

It’s back to the future with UTP! Does 2017 Meghan take requests or would that alter the space time continuum?
Avatar 7:10am
annie:

that's a good tidbit to know robert..thanks
  7:10am
Listener Robert:

I haven't been listening to you in your current slot for long, but my recollection is that indded the sound from Squirrel Hill and Topeka would come in louder than yours. But the volume problems -- some feeds too loud, others too soft, go back to before you were on the GTDS.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:12am
Meghan:

ahhhhh, but mine is quieter in general. This is good to know. If I need to go louder, let me know! I usually have it cranking in my studio! haha
  7:14am
Listener Robert:

These days the volume problem is superseded by the loose connections in my headphones. And the onboard speakers stopped working a year ago.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:15am
Meghan:

too much rocking out on your end too! hahaha

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:31am
Meghan:

Right Annie? It's so odd!
  7:32am
Listener Robert:

No, seriously when you assumed your current slot, and I wasn't listening to it much for the first couple years maybe, I never heard that explanation and just figured, ah, Meghan's making the themes more subtle and challenging.

Wow, still hard to believe it's been that long since Nachum left.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:32am
Meghan:

Hey there Gary!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:33am
Wendy del Formaggio:

Meghan, things are tense but okay. We're kinda behind the curve, but the number of positive cases has increased a lot. We're on a "stay at home" order, not really enforced. I'm fine. Just hanging out at home by myself. Listening to the radio. Early spring is here, so the crocuses and birds keep me company.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:33am
Wendy del Formaggio:

Hello Annie!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:34am
Meghan:

hahaha, that is too funny Robert! Yes my themes have been rather ODD lately haven't they....
  7:35am
Listener Robert:

I'm sure some penetrating listeners detected themes you were playing unconsciously.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:36am
Meghan:

Ah yes, spring has sprung... and so have my allergies! I am all paranoid if I start sneezing or have a sore throat because of it... It is strange to be ordered to stay home, but at least I have a ton of projects to work on!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:36am
Doug Schulkind:

¡Buenos días, hermana Meghan!

¡Los oyentes unido jamás será vencido!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:38am
Wendy del Formaggio:

Meghan, yeah, I started feeling sick a week ago and called my doctor to check in on my symptoms. He said, "It's still cold and normal-flu season," and assured me I was fine. A few hours later I was all better, and very relieved.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:39am
Meghan:

Well THAT is good, and way to be on it even though it was nothing! Though it does make one feel silly for overreacting!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:39am
Wendy del Formaggio:

Oh! That was Antonio Banderas singing. Wow. Did y'all see "Pain and Glory"?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:39am
Meghan:

no, good?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:39am
Wendy del Formaggio:

Meghan, I didn't feel silly. I'm used to my neuroses by now. :-D
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:40am
Wendy del Formaggio:

"Pain and Glory" was the best film I'd seen in a very long time, and I watch a lot of movies. But, I'm biased toward Aldomovar. It was beautiful and had a great script and the acting was excellente!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:41am
Wendy del Formaggio:

Okay, I gotta go make some breakfast now. Thanks for supplying the tunes and the good cheer!

Hey everyone!

I've ust been feeling depressed this week. Mainly because Autralia Post delivered my parcels to a wrong address and don't remember which incorrect address.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:44am
Meghan:

good morning Phillippe!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:45am
Meghan:

Hello Elwyn! What is up with your Post? You seem to have constant issues with them!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:47am
Meghan:

OHHH, I went to Carnagie Hall! That show was great, btw. It was a rainy night, but the show was so good and David Byrne came on stage with her too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:50am
Spatulator (formerly elwyn5150):

This month has been abnormally bad. Normally I have it delivered to a parcel locker intead of my home address.

They have lost small inconsequential things in the past.I'm annoyed AF because there was only one place in Australia that I found to have an out-of-print Hellboy hardcover. They also lost a Times New Viking CD in a different shipment and another Hellboy and Jay & Silent Bob comic.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:55am
Meghan:

that sucks. I'm sorry. Deliveries have been off in general. You get used to a lifestyle where everything is available to you quickly and then boom. Life is halted. I am waiting for a cable to arrive and it's not coming until next Thursday.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:58am
Spatulator (formerly elwyn5150):

I expected some deterioration in services but that parcel had tracking on it. It's such a FirstWorldProblem but I guess I am not coping with self-isolation as well as I thought I would.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:06am
Meghan:

FYI, today is going to be a gorgeous day here in Jersey City... coincidence?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:09am

Hi. Just connected at the start of the mic break and if this is your first regular Underwater slot, you sure have enthusiasm.
Avatar 8:09am
annie:

meghan, there's a part of your show which tickles me; i can't tell you since you might get self-conscious of it. it seems to be uniquely *you*. thanks for the joy..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:10am
Meghan:

Ohhhh, now you have me piqued! I want to know! My laughing?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:11am

Hey WR! This was my first official show on the stream. I had a regular show on WFMU proper, being the stream show that aired opposite of JM in the AM for 6 years...
Avatar 8:13am
annie:

it's the way you sign off at the end of the show. .... "bye!!"... and i mean that in the best possible way
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:14am
Spatulator (formerly elwyn5150):

I think the most I spent on a record was about AUD$70 for a copy of Neil Young & The Restless "Eldorado"(EP) because I thought it was really rare as it had only been released in Australia and Japan.

If you factor in the excessive USPS costs to ship to Australia, any new record by Yo La Tengo or The New Pornographers probably equals that.
Avatar 8:14am
annie:

don't go changin' now
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:16am

Ah! When I didn't do that in the marathon, Doug was there and said he was so upset I didn't do that too! Who knew! I won't change anything I do.... It's so engrained!

Hey Meghan! Weather will be nice, but later on in the day, right? I might head out to the dystopian farmer’s market in the afternoon to wait in line.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:24am
Meghan:

from what I see yes, this afternoon! It was supposed to be rainy but now partially cloudy! I may do some social distancing day drinking in my friends backyard!
Avatar 8:28am
annie:

i live in a senior housing building with 129 tenants; we get a deliver once a month from one of the numerous food banks here in asheville. as it is, the line is pretty long and crowded; if the distancing thing were to be enforced for that, then it would appear to be a yard sale for walking aids... i stay home..
  8:29am
JakeGould:

Might be worth it to invest in a broom handle and write “social distance” on it. Or maybe a big walking stick?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:30am

and, jake, even the farmer's market here has a policy set; you have to wait in line...i wouldn't last since my legs are crappy..good thing i can get groceries delivered from my favorite healthfood store
  8:31am
JakeGould:

I live in deep/non-hipster Brooklyn and I am happy that people are finally enforcing social distancing here in some places.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:32am

Awww, I was about to say the same thing! RIP Ted Leonard.... And the tippy tapping is most likely Olive, who is also RIP. Both great dogs....
Avatar 8:33am

i have a nostalgic affection for any part of brooklyn..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:33am
Spatulator (formerly elwyn5150):

I'm starting to get annoyed that people can't even do social distancing on escalators. All they need to do is wait 2 extra seconds!
  8:35am

The Union Square farmer’s market now limits how many people enter at any given time and have limited entrances. So hey. Here are my pics from the Union Square farmer’s market last Saturday: www.instagram.com...

In NYC I can tell you a lot more small businesses will be calling it quits. Uncontrollable, but damn… It will be different come summer.
Avatar 8:41am

I will be social distancing my sentences by always including a double-space at the end of them. As it should be.

Annie, check yer email! (Or at least the email you list on your WFMU profile page)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:42am
Meghan:

I am definitely feeling bad for all the small businesses. Yesterday we got take out from one and I went to my local hardware store, to help them and get some items for my project
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:43am
Meghan:

Yes, that is some wise spacing J-Rex. Now watch that mug will ya?
Avatar 8:43am
annie:

a nasty form of attrition, and i love that businesses are getting creative with marketing now. same one wendy..i'm still pretty unwise.
  8:44am
JakeGould:

Yeah. Even the ones still open are not doing great because nobody is shopping. I live in a neighborhood where there is at least one laundromat per block. I would say there are 5-6 near me within easy walking distance. All closed. The one decent laundromat is still open, but the owner is stressed: Not enough business and the customers are constantly venting their stress on him. Barely scraping by.
  8:45am
JakeGould:

And in NYC I am going to be blunt: In rapidly gentrifying neighborhoods I am fairly confident that landlords are scheming on how to (finally) push people out.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:46am

Hi Meghan!

  8:49am
JakeGould:

I’m honestly wondering if anyone is planning some march for when we can get out of social distancing.
Avatar 8:50am

they'd have to maintain their pissed-off 'tude. or maybe it'll morph to some real constructive action. i hope for the latter.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:55am
Hugo (NL):

@Meghan: My family and I are safe and healthy, for now. How are you doing?
In the Netherlands the situation is getting worse every day. The number of sick and dead people increases. When it comes to living our lives: We are not allowed to be outside with more then 2 people (with our family/kids is ok though). Schools are closed for a week, all events are canceled until june (for now), offices are closed. So yeah, thank god for WFMU/GTDR :-) And I try to go to a quiet forest every now and then.
  8:55am
JakeGould:

Well, the first key for me is just having restful sleep! I think the first week I had one night of real sleep. The rest were just stress sleep.

This past week was better. Also, sun… I need that sun, baby…
Avatar 8:56am
annie:

it's an ironic thing, i've been breakfasting with friends lately.. so no radio... this is nice...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:59am
Meghan:

Glad to hear you are being safe Hugo! Yeah, we have orders to stay home here, no limits on how many can be out, but we need 6 feet between people... it's surreal. All of our local parks here are closed.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:00am
Meghan:

I agree Jake! sun helps! and finally settling in to this new normal..... and stop watching the news for me! That has helped a LOT. I just can't with the news anymore!
  9:01am
JakeGould:

Also about 2 weeks ago I took a walk through Brooklyn’s Sunset Park (which is near me) and it flipped me out a bit that 4 out of every 10 people I saw had face masks on.

Now seemingly everyone has one!

My only “guilty pleasure” news-wise nowadays is listening to callers in WNYC panicking over nothing. There are definitely real things to worry about but seemingly every caller they get is some pearl clutching ninny. So entertaining!
