I will say this though - I saw Little Feat in there newly expanded version eight months before Dixie Chicken was released. They were opening for Captain Beefheart at The Santa Monica Civic. Previously they had been a quartet with Roy Estrada on bass, who at that show had been drafted into Beethearts band. It took them awhile, but they were transitioning into the party boogie band they are know as today, but in the beginning they were a very different animal indeed.

coelacanth∅:

Larry wikipedia article contradicts itself but does say it wasn't included on the album originally.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:25pm
Funky16Corners:

That's odd. unless Leiber and Stoller conceived of it all as a single piece back in 69, and didn't get around to doing the rest of Mirrors until the mid-70s
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:26pm
coelacanth∅:

that's basically what the article says happened
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:27pm
coelacanth∅:

(and i misread something; it does not contradict itself)

...my interpretation - related to what you said about being unceremoniously dropped, capital hastily assembled an album of odds and ends when the song took off.

There are a couple of years between Is That All There Is (1969) and her last Capitol LP in 1972, but according to the bio trying to get Capitol to cooperate with her artistic choices was like pulling teeth

Wailers, nice! I swear I'm on no sleep'til Brooklyn mode. I couldn't sleep last night, so I put on and Icelandic crime drama. I can't understand Icelandic outside a few phrases (my Norweigian is ok), and I usually hate crime dramas, but at 7am, I was still awake. Well, it appears, since I've been to Iceland, I kept on noticing places I've been, and that was keeping awake to catalog that. So, finally I put on a strategy gaming youtube cast where where player, she sounded more tired then I and I finally fell asleep around 9am.

Nice Lonnie Smith!

This Lonnie Smith is kind of strange.

Hey NGH! We are all having varying degrees of sleep troubles here
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:34pm
Funky16Corners:

@Brian - It's from an album composed entirely of Beck covers
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:34pm
coelacanth∅:

capitol (or "crapitol" as my brother & i used to call it) got to be pretty narrow-minded by then, it seems
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 4:35pm
Brian in UK:

Who would have though it. Earlier Beck, does it have anything from Sea Change; the breakup album.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:35pm
Funky16Corners:

@C - They were like every other label, chasing the youth market, and probably grossly overspending on all kinds of weird rock crap
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:36pm
Funky16Corners:

@Brian - No, I think it predates Sea Change
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 4:36pm

Would it be fair to say that Colombia had a big slice of the market at the time.

Atlantic, too
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:37pm

well, there was island, and then stiff...

Chads are scorned here in New Orleans after some doofuses spray painted the neutral ground grass taking up a 30’ X 30’ space and calling themselves The Krewe of Chad a week before the Endymion parade.
