To echo @JakeGould: you can definitely always pay more than asked. (Has anyone researched the fee structure of Bandcamp – does anything extra you toss in above the sticker price go to artists without anything skimmed off?)

Bandcamp published numbers for last Friday, quote:

The numbers tell a remarkable story: on a typical Friday, fans buy about 47,000 items on Bandcamp, but this past Friday, fans bought nearly 800,000, or $4.3 million worth of music and merch. That’s more than 15 times our normal Friday, and at the peak, fans were buying 11 items per second.

@Mr.Pumpy: I didn’t even click the link. The thing is — and this Coronavirus stuff emphasizes it — but I don’t want to spend linear time I can’t get back watching or listening to media. Waste of time. The concept of cramped quarters and disease should not be difficult for most to understand.

Jeff Moore:

I've mentioned this to some people before, but I was kind of tortured by "You Only Live Twice" playing in my head for a year or so.

There's a reason.

A quirk of my brain is that if I hear the words of a song lyric I know, my mind subconsciously latches onto that, and loads the whole song, melody and all, to play in my head.

It doesn't have to be a whole song lyric. It can be a couple of words.

Or an implied couple of words.

It doesn't take much for the demented Markov-chain machinery in my head to latch onto something it can work with.

So... remember when the darned kids thought it was funny to yell "YOLO!"?

Sometime after that, somebody scratched YOLO into the WFMU kitchen table.

And every time I caught a glimpse of that out of the corner of my eye, my subconscious expanded the letters into their full words, latched onto "You Only", and started playing "You Only Live Twice" in my head.

Like, every time.

I'd be doing something in the kitchen like brewing coffee, and I'd realize I was humming or just hearing that song.

This happened a lot for quite awhile, probably until the table was refinished.

When people talk about songs to sing while washing your hands for 20 seconds, the song that comes up in my head is consistently is the Bill Davis Trio’sd “Catch ’Em Young, Treat ’Em Rough, Tell ’Em Nothin’”

Catchy tune. Creepy message. Wash your hands!

@coel definitely do that. I recommend starting with series 8, only because it is so much better since Fielding joined the show.

I’ve had a migraine and been half napping on my studio floor with the radio on the last hour, its been great hearing the music mixed with the pattering of the rain. Think it made me feel a lil better!
