i just figured something...
the infrastructure will fail, and people in "civilized" countries are stupid enough that life is now practically dependent on it. "we've" chosen computer-dependent versions of almost everything that we could have a mechanical version of.
when (not if) the world wide web fails, most of us will have no communications, no fuel, no electricity -therefore no food, no water.
most of us.

Good Morning Tom Dash
Are you at a remote location?

I don't think the Internet will fail, and if it does we will all pull together to help one another. In every major world disaster there have always been people that come together and pull through.

Unfortunately I missed the YLT Marathon show!
  2:04am
JakeGould:

@rw: That is dark but realistic. I’ve already seen some people crack under pressure in public. Also, remember in a city like NYC many roommates don’t really interact with each other because of work schedules. Now, it’s all like a lifeboat situation. 4 weeks from now the social tension might be truly scary.
  2:05am
JakeGould:

@TomDash: So how are you going to deal with the curfew? I assume driving in and driving out of New Jersey after 8:00pm will work?
  2:07am
rw:

Jake! Yeah, it will be interesting to see how this all plays out. I have hope, even with my realist tendencies.
  2:09am
JakeGould:

@rw: Yup. I have also told people I personally know who are edgy that you can’t sprint a marathon. Figure out ways to chill whenever you can if you can. If you are working from home the unwritten rule is basically just rest, relax and be available if something happens. But that’s only for some who can work remotely.

Also, be nice to the service workers who are still going to work to do things. Like make food and deliver food.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:10am
TomDash:

Hey @JakeGould - yeah I drive in from Brooklyn, but will shall see what happens in NYC too!
  2:14am
rw:

You can't sprint a marathon. Good advice! I may steal that from you if you don't mind.
  2:15am
JakeGould:

@rw: Nope. I came up with that idea and analogy on my own and plan on making tote bags with that on it so hey…
  2:16am
rw:

Damn. Well let me know when the tote bags are available then.
  2:19am
rw:

I work half on location and half at home. I'm a little worried about going stir crazy. Work has already slowed almost to a halt. My son said he's been reading reddit posts about people under quarantine. A big complaint is that they don't have materials to do home improvement projects.
Avatar 2:19am
modern blaze:

i guess it's too dark in NJ right now
  2:23am
JakeGould:

My home improvement project for the next four weeks (at least?) is self care. Including prepping my own food. Not the biggest cook here but don’t usually cook because of time. Now that we’re all working from home we can cook things that grandparents cooked that take 5-6 hours to make. I mean what else can we do?
  2:26am
rw:

Ha! In my own panic grocery binge yesterday I bought stuff to make veg. chili. Maybe tomorrow!
  2:32am
rw:

And when I say binge... I was on a bicycle, so not way out of control.
  2:33am
JakeGould:

I have a lot of potatoes right now. That is all.
  2:33am
rw:

So YOU'RE the one who bought all the potatoes!
